Put some new sparkle in your favorite Can Am cars.

ATTENTION: SETUPS NOT FOR ALIENS!

The file included with this post contains setups for the Can Am '71 mod, created by John Roberts and tested by me. John provided the default setups for the Sportscar mod and the F2 mod that so many are currently enjoying. These Can Am setups are not designed for aliens. If you've felt like there's more performance available for the CanAm 71 mod cars but weren't sure how to get it, you might want to take a look at these.

They've improved my lap times and enjoyment immensely, knocking 1.5 to 4 seconds off laps at Silverstone and Spa compared to the defaults. Testing was done at Silverstone and Spa since those tracks offer a good challenge to stability, reward pushing a little harder, and have a good mix of corners in both directions at varying speeds. Besides everyone knows them. These setups will be an improvement at every track, with just some adjustments to the gear ratios.

The setups are mostly symmetrical and have short race fuel levels. You'll probably want to keep the steering ratio high (20:1) for the Can Ams or adjust to your usual specs. Asymmetrical setups, esp. at Silverstone, helped me avoid some high tire temperatures on the inside front tire. Some of the cars seemed to need a little more than others. You may not find this necessary and can easily revert these to the symmetrical settings from the default setups. The key settings that you want to keep here are in the spring rates, roll bar rates, and wing. Everything else is the same as the defaults except where changes were made for asymmetry.

As per usual, Mr. Roberts respectfully declines to make Ferrari setups.

John has made setups for the 66 mod here:
https://srmz.racesimcentral.net/inde...?showtopic=7722
and setups for the GT mod available here:
https://srmz.racesimcentral.net/inde...208
As stated elsewhere in this post, the default setups for the F2 mod are his, as well as the default setups for the GTs.

Please pass your appreciation along to John Roberts.

These setups are available at Sim Racing Mirror Zone > Grand Prix Legends > Grand Prix Legends Files > GPL-Setups/Replays > Can Am 71 Mod Setups John Roberts

Enjoy!

I agree Jim:

BTW hi, :tongue2:  glad to see your still at it .
If your struggling to get a decent lap in ,or just don't see why these can am cars are sooooo twichy ,give John's setup pack a try ,I would like to tell you a few things about can am ,but i'm not completely understanding what they do yet , :harumph: isn't that what a sim is supposed to be ? :Meter:
I started with the setup for spa with the 260 ,after many laps i lowered the wheel rates some ,but i find that at short (squirt-and -point -tracks ) it seems necessary to have them stiffer must be the heaviness of the tin tops? :idunno:

Try this set ,give them a few laps so you can settle in ,,,,,,then get loud and fast! :woot:

I have more things i want to try ,so this isn't a very imformative piece ,but if i was still not sure about can am's I would D/l  these  now :smug2: .

See yaa out there
