Replace Theory and Guessing with Fact

Here is a link to The GPL Tire Temp Utility on Chris Lockey's site, click on "GPL Setup Guide/Utilities I Use" to get to it:

Tire Temp Utility
Created by Bas Van Meurs 2005

This is a standalone utility that is opened before opening Grand Prix Legends. It will generate a chart of all tire temp readings during all driving sessions while open, making a pretty big file which can then be opened with MSPaint or other.

If you are very serious about learning the certain effect of any change in a setup, it will be revealed there. Lots of tedious clicking and careful analysis, but worth it when diligence yields some quick results.

Pick a shorter track, (maybe Mallory Park Oval), a skidpad, or for most convenience any track with lap times under 2mins.
Or any track on which it is critical that lap times be reduced...if setup is the reason for longer time.
(Jmho, setup tweaking may shave a few tenths, while driving line and technique can/will shave several seconds if available).

Open Tire Temp Utility, (an icon will appear on the taskbar).
Behind the scenes, it will make a chart.

Open Grand Prix Legends and drive, (Training, Practice, or Race mode).

Close Grand Prix Legends and open MSPaint or other, then goto Sierra\GPL and open the file.

The tire temps chart shows the change in suspension loading around a track.
Goal is to have most consistent and even temps all around...but that doesn't and should not happen at all times.
If temps remain consistent and low it indicates not pushing hard enough to build temp and grip.
Temps should get hot in turns and cool on straights.
It does not matter much what temps are on a straight.
It does matter what temps get to in a turn.
