Glad I could help :) . I have another track here which I made years ago. It's on my HD gathering dust now after Border Reiver gave me some help getting started. Nothing fancy, a very short lap with no altitudes, and no track side objects. I always had the impression altitudes are a tricky thing so kinda postphoned doing it. Track did line up very neatly though, no mismatches I believe :) .

Some time I might be tempted to start working on it again, but first I gotta finish some more cars for new mods :) :) .

    Tommie.

Some experiences: First driveable flat version and one width; 23 hours :yeah: .
To finish the track; 511 hours total  (effectively for 13km :) ). There is a short way to find the speeds in the respective corners, top speed and so. To make the track finish is about a lot of time-consuming progresses. Most of the work is very fun.
You can learn how to do most of it, and the altitudes too :artist: . I can recommendation you to progress your project  just remember to backup frequently.

Oh yes the fequent backup thing is written in the GPL law book :D . Sentence would be bashing your head against the wall and redo the job :D .

Might release it as alpha in a couple of months, hopefully with some more work added and first elevations.

    Tommie.

511 hours :fark: I knew you guys spent a lot of time on things but this sheds a bit of light on how much time is spent. It amazes me that some people don't even take a few seconds to post a thank you.

I will try the suggestions to get the track loading normaly from gem but it isn't a big problem and the workaround is quite simple. Thanks people.

Yeah, that doesn't surprise me, GPL sucks private time like a leopard tank consumes fuel :D
Maybe i shouldn't but taking an average of 2 hours a day (that's a medium value for me), times 7 days, times 52 weeks gives 728 hours a year working at mods.
I only started working intensivly in 2007 on the mods iirc...

          Hear, hear

hm. being an even later latecomer to the gpl modding scene i don't really know how much time i actually spend and have spent on things and mods. when i saw 511 hours i thought "wow, that's not that much really". but then i mostly count in days, not hours. however days are misleading as that can range from an hour to 14 hours for a "day". it depends on if i'm in the mood, things are progressing smoothly or some other.. ugh.. factor. it also depends on what i'm doing. in a way we of the graphic department are better off there - i can see immediately if something is looking good or not. ok minus the fact that i still need to convert it to mip, drop it in the folder, load the game, drive a bit, check the replay and go back to the folder, rename the file properly, go back in game, ... only to notice "DUH, idiot, you forgot to enable this and that layer in photoshop before exporting. AGAIN!". :punish:

[long winded comment removed for the sake of you, the reader :P]
i did 3 cars, 1st one took a month, 2nd one 2 weeks, 3rd one 3 months - same amount of dedication (for the most part) and time on each per day. so ya, gpl editing sucks your time like a dry sponge - but it's fun and hopefully you'll notice the difference it makes ;)

and to get back to this track, i have to admit that i have downloaded it the day i first saw it, but haven't even installed it yet. it's sitting in a directory with another 40ish tracks that i downloaded to try and give a go but haven't had the time to do so or rather wanting to finish that "other" thing first before driving for real again.

Sorry 'bout that - I'll get it in there (and the TotalRank) shortly.

I've just about finished the progset for this one. It came out a little sooner than I expected, and the illegal aliens I've got locked in the basement painting this :crap: have been taking their sweet-a$$ed time about it, I'll tell you what.

"Hey Miguel, no more Cuervo until I see some pixels on my screen, pronto!"

Anyway, it's nearly done - I'll release it and update the GPLtd when it is.

Hi Svenvangent  You will find that Monty is a Beta and only final tracks are included in total rank. A while back some of the final tracks were removed after a debate in this forum, for example Blackwerk was removed as it is the same as Machwerk but without colour, a couple of others were voted back in I think, but you will find that some tracks that are worthy IMO to be there are not final so they don't make the cut. :)

                    Hallo burnsy865
Hard to read those words .
Thinking that Mister Monty python is still a beta , strange.. I saw nothing wrong with this track that could tell that this is a beta .
For me this is a track that they may call FINAL .

Yes, there are a few "beta" tracks that seem more "final" than some of the "final" tracks.

P.S. Sorry if I made the last post hard to understand, I forget that not everybody here uses English as a first language
