Mexico_Multi_season_update

by Remy Roesz, Paul Skingley, Rob Hunter, Tommie van Ostade, Ginetto, Arturo Pereira and Svend Seegert.

IMPORTANT NOTE
For this update to work correctly you should have updated 65,66,67 and 69 mods with the recent "patch" releases.

65 patch
https://srmz.racesimcentral.net/inde...?showtopic=3765
66 patch
https://srmz.racesimcentral.net/inde...?showtopic=3878
https://srmz.racesimcentral.net/inde...amp;#entry35202
67 patch
https://srmz.racesimcentral.net/inde...?showtopic=4875
69 patch
https://srmz.racesimcentral.net/inde...?showtopic=4538

This update to the GPL Mexico track should be installed over an original "clean" version of the Mexico track from the GPL CD.
If you have other updates already, rename or remove your Mexico folder and copy in a fresh version from the GPL CD.
Copy the CONTENTS of the supplied mexico folder to your gpl/tracks/mexico folder.

This update is not Voodoo compatible and is recommended for use on modern PC systems with 2ghz processor or better.

The track layout is unchanged which means this update is fully compatible with the original track.

NOTE 1
There are additional folders included for optional textures ( high/low res ) and sounds. Sounds are added as default. If you have problems with low frame rate you could try the no_sound option by placing the files from the no_sound option folder into the track folder.

NOTE 2
if you wish to pack the files into the dat after installation, only pack 3do, mips and srb. Do not pack the mod specific files.

We researched hours of film and as many photos that we could find to make this update as historically accurate as we could.
we hope you like the results :)

Contains mod specific files for 65, 66, 67 ( default ) and 69.

1/New Horizons.

2/Changing banners, buildings, textures and track objects depicting the track on the race days of each season.

3/New curbs that replace the tires for 1969. Wire fence replacing the armco at the hairpin for 1969.

4/Pit exit wall from 1967 onward.

5/Pit cones for 65,66 an 67. For 1969 the cones become posts and rope barrier.

6/New building "Palacio de los Deportes" outside of the Peralta was finished in 1968.
GPL shows various stages of construction from 1965 through to 1969.

7/New pit and grandstand buildings including power wires across the track.

8/Many new people, textures, buildings and objects.

Thanks to GPLRACER league for beta testing

I've just done a few laps with all the mods and it looks absolutely fantastic chaps! One of the things which used to bug me about Mexico was the "jagged" groove, especially at the hairpin, and now that's completely fixed. Excellent!  :yipee2:

(And judging by that building under construction outside Peralta, I'm never going to hire Mexican builders, they're just too slow! :D )

I was thinking about the same thing.  :P

Fantastic update, gentlemen. I tried every version of it and got an urgent need to race there asap! THANKS!!!  :bowing:

I was wondering about the ´69 curbs though... I hope you have tested that the lap times are not affected? The new curbs feel very realistic and are very well done but can you now cut the corners more than with those tires?

Just gave it a very quick few laps in each year/season and just had to pop back to say...

    It`s brilliant!!!

All rock but I`m really liking the 69 season... funny to see the track without the tyres on the corners...

Excellent work and thanks again. :applause:

Downloading atm, will give it a try asap (I hope that it could work on my poor PC), but the screenshots are absolutely stunning!

A big thanks to all involved for the great effort; GPL seems to become better and better each year as the good wine.  :D

    Hi Kanzo
The curbs are actually in exactly the same places that the tires used to be ( apart from the hairpin ). This is not 100% historically accurate but we decided to do it this way to maintain compatibility. It also means the AI use the same line as they used to without the update.
If anything the curbs make the 69 version slightly more difficult ( in my opinion ). Although you do not rip off a wheel if you touch the curbs they should give you a fair jolt which will throw you offline if you are not careful.
The update has certainly not made me  any faster at Mexico  :drive:
