GPL Weekly is being attacked with SQL injection (= bots trying to access database with tricky manouvers), and thus it is down again. At the moment I don't have the resources (80% time, 20% knowledge)  to solve this problem. Expect a few weeks break, till I'm back with an all new, safe and bulletproof version.

This is such depressing news. The Groundhog site is the only one which handles the 67 Historical (online) carset, and the GT Extra mod.

How can people be so mindlessly vandalistic?

Whoever is responsible for overseeing the structure and the protocols of the Internet should start developing a tracing mechanism (much like tracing a phone call) so that malicious behaviour like this can be located and stopped.

IMHO it was always a bad idea for the web to be almost fully open, as it simply invites sadistic people to abuse it and destroy the pleasure and hard work of others.

1. Bot Traps, like bot sponges
2. Bots that kill bots, like vampire bitcoin miners

Because they can.  Simple as that.  That's all the reason they need.  Even more so behind the anonymity the internet provides.

That the internet in general has turned into such a dangerous place gives insight on just how ugly human beings often are.
