I hope this doesn't irritate people but I would like to take a bit of straw pole of those that have been running GPL for much longer than I (6 months) and so have lots of experience.

    I have a simple question:-

Do you have a single GPL install for all mods, using GEM+, or do you have separate installs for each mod?

I ask because, after installing many mods into one install, which usually involve simply copying and pasting files, I always feel nervous about what I may be breaking. It seems a bit of a mess that I can't be sure of (though I doubt it is). Maybe that's just my confused mind.

    Thanks.

No problems here running all mods in one install with GEM+ with W7 and Linux mint.

Just make a backup of the complete GPL folder when it runs fine and after a new installed track or mod.

One thing you should never do, is to sort your seasons in GEM+ automatic by name or directory!!!
This (sometimes) messes the season.ini file...

I've always used a single installation.

Occasionally I've found that one mod doesn't work (usually getting a "track doesn't load" or I can't get into an online race in that one mod only) but I just go to my saved downloads and re-install that mod on top of everything and that works fine.  That's the way that the mod installs work.

So how do you sort the list?  Or just leave it as default (which is that?)

Whenever I open any ini files I use Notepad++ and I haven't had any problems since using that.

After a fresh track is installed it is on the bottom of the 67season.ini.

I open the 67season.ini with GEM+ and move the track to the left
Next step I look where it has to be placed
I click on the track below on the right side
Now I mark the new track left and move it > to the right

    voila now it's sorted

to put the track in any other XYseason.ini just mark the track below the place where it belongs and > it ;)

The seasons are a prime example of how my expectations are different to what actually happens with GPL.

      This is my 67SEASON.INI
      Attached File  67_Season_INI.PNG   12.41K   28 downloads

      This is my 67.INI
      Attached File  67_INI.PNG   13.06K   35 downloads

      This is my GP.INI
      Attached File  GP_INI.PNG   22.68K   28 downloads

When I go into GPL and start a Championship I see all of the tracks from the GP.INI file, whereas I expected to see only the tracks from the 67SEASON.INI file.

I also don't now why the ini files contain what they do - at least the 67SEASON.INI file looks like it represents the championship races for this season (I removed the Rouen track and replaced with the Bugatti track).

Oh! I missed that gliebzeit - I have done them as attachments. Thanks I may edit and post again.

Mmmm - I actually tried clicking on the images in your post and they wouldn't open.

Also - I'm sorry but I edited my original post so now you're replying to a post that isn't there anymore. My apologies.

Due to the way GEM operates I have one install for all mods, with one exception - a separate install for the '67 Historic mod (since, in my opinion, it doesn't integrate well with the other mods).  Once everything is setup and working well I use separate links to each exe to run the various mods and only use GEM for editing (mostly for swapping season files to access different tracks).

Do you check if you select the correct exe? Usually, it will use the correct season.ini

Actually 'jgf' it was after doing the 67 historic mod that I was at my most confused/worried. I wish I'd asked this question before I did the install I think your answer would have lead me to do the 67 historical as a separate install at least.

Here, it integrates well with other mods. One install for alls mods and GEM mismatches are rares.
As any other mod installed prior or after the seven .exe of this mod, they run OK . The selection of the correct carset between the 7, is only a question of visual intuitive task. The pics of every round starting grid in GEM helps a lot to speed up the process of selecting the correct mod.

can you tell more about " it doesn't integrate well with the other mods " ?

            M Needforspeed...

This is my GEM before I start GPL (I start GPL using GEM).

            Attached File  Gem.png   694.76K   35 downloads

The list of tracks in the drop down box is only those from the 67SEASON.INI. But inside GPL it doesn't match.

You asked me if it uses the correct EXE file, well in a way this is a part of the original question. With separate installs I would be able to answer this confidently as I wouldn't be going through GEM. With one install I don't really know as I am relying on GEM.

From what I see , everything displayed in GEM is correct for the original 67 standard carset.

Can you post your 67season.ini file ? Thk you.

aside, you 'll find below how GEM will display the seven 67 Historical mod "subcarsets".
            from left to right, carset 4,1, 2, 3, 5 and below 6 and 7.

Don't take into account the car I selected, as it is a complete separate choice within the 67 historical mod, as for others mods.
