Good for you, alberman. It is great to see others enjoying the 55s on those treacherous tracks. I'm having a love affair with Dundrod.

Careful ... don't let your wife find out about extra-marital affairs!! What times are you doing there?

Congratulations to the 55 mod team for this great mod !!! Thank you for all your time and hard work . I missed the release of this mod due to my hard drive failing just a couple of days before. I'm happy to say that my PC is back up and running and I will be downloading this gem today. I can't wait to get a few laps in on each of the updated tracks .
Gentlemen,start your engines !!!

Wow ! Just did a few laps at Aintree and the Nurburgring with the Lancia D50 and all I can say is "WOW" !! I find myself liking this mod even more than I thought I would. A big thank you to all the team that helped to create this 55 mod. I also have to compliment the 1955 track updates. Beautiful work on giving these tracks a new atmosphere .

Well, I'm late to the party, but a huge THANK YOU for everyone involved with this Mod!
I've been away from GPL for a couple of years, drifted off into GTR2 and P&G...but the 55 Mod brought me back.....and it is something else.
Firstly, the cars' physics and handling are amazing. Like most people, I've never driven a 1950's Grand Prix car (although I have driven cars on skinny crossplies and drums), but the cars feel very authentic and real to me: chuckable and driftable, but with great balance and precision as well: the sort of good handling characteristics that one would imagine race-car designers have always striven to engineer into racing cars. In short, they feel like cars built to be driven quickly, rather than simulations designed to be challenging to drive.
As for the brake-fade, well, I'm no hot-shoe, but I have learnt to drive with it, and once one gets used to using the brakes lightly and the gears more extensively, it feels like a perfectly natural style. I find myself using light touches of the brakes to stabilise the car, slowing with the gears, steering on the throttle, and focusing on more than ever on line and positioning on the track- in other words, just like Paul Frere and Stirling Moss wrote about, and it feels amazing!
...and that, for me, is where the joy of sim-racing lies: in how it all feels and looks to drive, and this mod scores highly on both counts.
Now, I'm not the weepy type, but the first time I came out of Stavelot in the 250F in 4th gear, feeding the power in, letting the car drift outwards on the throttle with all four wheels singing as one roars out into the sunshine....well, I'll swear my eyes started to mist over. It was all just too, too beautiful.
Thank you, 55 Mod team, and everyone else who's ever made anything for GPL. You just keep lifting the bar, and keeping GPL right up there.
