Full Version: Lura04 v2 clean install
SimRacing MZ > Grand Prix Legends > "I just want to talk about all things GPL"
Simbear

dangermouse EDIT: Now updated to v3 - you can find the new one over HERE.

Introduction:
=============
This is a very narrow track; some places only one lane in the direction. It's real roads! The track layout is special for GPL. These road junctions are well known by most people in the region. It's an expansive trade and shopping area.

Length 4.15 km. Lap time 2 min. Max speed more than 280 km/h. Pit lane is in the street and very narrow to the race line!

This roads are modelled for reference use, and 250 meters of this track is real racetrack. First turn is a part of (real) Rally Stavanger Ford Kverneland Circuit SP1 https://www.rally.no/stavanger// (the only street rally in this country. Note: Norwegian language and the video is in regular traffic) where the curbstone is harmful. If you think the GPL Lura04 is narrow, I can tell you the rest of the little rally circuit is many times narrower!

Things happen in a year after my demo replay smile.gif.
I have beaten the Sami Liikanens WR 1:56.097 in Brabham from 2005. I can't edit my post 3 huh.gif; my old replay can be removed.

Here is the WR replay for Eagle 1:55.262 Click to view attachment and the setup Click to view attachment

I'm not an alien, but I have tried hard. This explains how much opportunity set the GPL driving has 59.gif! As track builder I hope somebody can beat my time again! thumbsup.gif

Mental Note: Must check out my laptime when i get home tonight dry.gif

I must admit i really like this track, very tricky in places thumbsup.gif
Pedro
That means I can get 10sec of my Totalrank score, shocking.gifIf I beat you dry.gif

I give it a try later this week....bizzy, bizzy, bizzy.

Thx nice to hear thumbsup.gif, all the times set is like wine for a track maker (and the WR's replays is always wanted).

oops.gifI have some useful comments to the track:
Lura04 is maybe one of the hardest tracks ever made, and GPL is maybe the most challenging sim.
What can I say? If you don't has the time needed to master this partial twisted real roads, try rather my track Tasta04 who is faster and easier but still a challenge and good rhythm mix.

Lura04 is more than normal setup sensitive. The real camber shifts unsettles the car and you have to be extremely gently at the pedals. There are 8-9 first gear corners in combination of two high speed sections. The setups are a personal thing, and mine gives you an idea of it. Any tip how to solve that better is of interest. The real rally cars handle this low speed sections well and precise.

I had a split time 1:54.88, subtract two seconds for the aliens and there is possible to do 1:52s!!?? shocking.gifI think the drivers lap time spread and improvement potential is generally very high here tongue.gif.

Now you see why all that about Lura04. At my other track Tasta04 you can find a Mosport/nurb or whatever setup and just drive... bye1.gif

Eeek it turns out i've only managed a meagre 2:02.592 shocking.gif
Pedro
Bjørn, what can I say:

I was Looking at your 1.55.262 WR when I started driving Lura04 last week.
After 200 laps or so, I was thinking what the hell am I doing wrong.
You are so much faster, and in the replay it looks so easy and so relaxed.

So I give up cry.gif
My best Eagle time : 1:57.839
previous 2:06.560
a improvement of 8+sec.

A bit disapointed I go writing this post.
Read this threat again and what do I see:

Well done Pedro; 8 secs improvement is fantastic and a good score! clapping.gifNext year you can be able to do more than the last 2.5 secs thumbsup.gif.
I switch much to other tracks or cars if the advance doesn’t appear. When back again the results improve. Not repeated too much (I know you know) generally for all anyway: Fast out of the corners is always the key, especially the exit to the motorway here (easy to say and we have always to learn) 59.gif.

***** cap.gif***** Minor fix only necessary for the 69-mod: The cars pit lane position adjusted (works fine for 65s or 67s too) for these wide 69-cars:
