Hello again.

As this is in my opinion a 67 race I thought i would share my Kyalami 68 Historical Carset to add onto the end of the 67 Historical Carsets.

Obviously there are only 7 car slots so that means Rodriguez drives a P115, Beltoise a BT11 and Stewart a Lotus 49. With more slots some cars would be a little different (Love's BT20,Hulme's M5A for example) but I am happy with the result.

I have posted the cars folder as 2 parts just merge the 18-SAF folders together and put it in your GPL/CARS folder.

I made a Kyalami68 track (part 3) to put in your GPL/TRACKS folder so that it doesn't interfere with the 67 race.

Then you can run this carset through GEM the same way as the original 67 carsets.

I have added a screen of how the ai run for me.

Aerogi's motorsport pictures has been my main source of info  www.phpbbplanet.com/forum/index.php

Special thanks to Irridux for sending me some of his carset.

If anyone has anything to add or improve on it feel free to post it. Even the smallest thing to make it better would be appreciated.

I may finish the 67 season off and post some updates to the 4 non championships already done once the new Spa is released or I can get some more photos but until then they are on hold.

Until next time,

Chris

Here's a folder and sound from the 69xtra to swap the brm P115 for the p126. Remember to backup your original sound.

Thanks Chris ! :up:
Great job once again. Thanks to Irridux, G. Spinning & Silence as well for all of their work on the 67cars.

I found that I could not load the field without CTD. Maybe it was just me, but I had to add the kyalami68 to my 67season.ini
like so: :)

[Eventxx]
name=South African Grand Prix
shortname=South African GP
trackDirectory=kyalami68
month=1
day=2
numberOfLaps=80
startingGrid=4
flag=saflg
trackShortName=Kyalami

Well because it runs off the 67 mod it has to use a different track or it would replace the 67 race. Since kyalami68 is a special track everyone would have to add it to the end of their 67 season.
Here is the 67season.ini that I use.

Would love to see these carsets continuing on through the 68 season ! Wouldn't it be great to have a somewhat historically
correct 68 carset of the different wing configurations meet up to Irridux's 68 carset (British GP - Mex GP) ?
I have discovered you can import Keido's Lotus folder from the Tasman68 carset into pioujd428 ( Chris) 's Kyalami68 carset
to get you Graham Hill in the Lotus49Gold Leaf.
Next remove Jackie Stewart (injured) and the late Jim Clark from the drvc67.ini located from this Kyalami68 carset and you have a somewhat historical 68 Spanish GP Grid. Next I made a jarama2 track folder using dooDat
to load up a second Jarama race in the 67season.ini to now have 19 races with G Spinning & Co 67Historical Mod :

Hopefully the wonderful real editors of GPL will someday continue the 68F1 season ! :)

Hows it going Dave,

I would be very interested in doing the 68s made from the 69xtra mod and runs the same way as the historical 67s do which I already know can definately be done as I have started it. It's not worth going into detail about it though because I need 4 things to do it. So I would like to make a few requests although this might not be the best place to do it but o well.

I need:
The Matra MS11
An updated Honda RA301 skin not to worried about the actual car although it would be nice
Cooper T86b
Some interest haha. To be honest I thought there would be a few people who would be happy with a 68 kyalami carset but that wasn't the case at all.

Or if there are people out there that want to do the physics and cars I am more than happy to do all the graphics. Which is what I would prefer. I also know basically how to edit cars slightly that have already been made.

I have found that running the 69xtra cars without wings is better than good enough physics for me and adding wings to the setup when they are used.

This is just a quick post to show I'm interested. If there are people out there who would like to help with it then I will go into more detail about how it runs. Which for me is very smoothly. If no one is interested thats fine I'm pretty much finished with editing gpl unless there is A LOT of interest in this.

And sorry it wouldn't put my screens in order. Also the spa and mexico carsets are well behind the first 4.

:wow:  :drool:  Thanks for the screenshots Chris ! This looks fantastic !! Hopefully you find the time and can complete these
wonderful carsets. I'm thinking maybe it's been off-season for SRMZ and GPL as I have noticed not too many members posting,
so maybe that's why we don't see much feedback here. :think:

I myself had a 4 month break from GPL to pursue other interests, but have returned to be a daily addict again !

Also was thinking this "68 Mod " forum doesn't see as many views as the other Mods ? :(

I always keep an eye on the 68 "mod" forum but this comes as a complete and very welcome surprise. Your screenshots look terrific Chris - thank you so much for sharing them.

I am not an editor, but I can certainly provide plenty of moral support and interest for your suggestion. As I have posted elsewhere, whilst the CanAm and sportscar mods are most welcome and tremendous pieces of work in their own right, for me GPL has always been about 60s single seaters and 1968 is the glaring omission from what we have at present.

The physics would be problematic for a full "mod" - no wings, primitive wings, the monster wings of later in the season - and may be a major reason why a full mod has not been produced before, but a graphics-based modification of the existing 69 extras would be most welcome and if you are keen to do it then I for one am happy to support you. Having downloaded your previous 67 non championship carsets I know that you will do an excellent job.

Here's hoping..... :crossfingers: :hat-tip:

I think a lot of the 'diminished interest' is due to the crisis we are facing in the world. Work takes up a lot more time and energy, at least for me personally but I seem to see the same with others. That being said I enjoy your efforts and ones like you that have been made to recreate the entire 1967 season, which is a monumental task.

What I would like to do in the near future is get the GPLEA website up in the air again, and maybe provide a sort of GPL hub, as it seems a lot of websites about GPL are not functioning properly, if at all. I'd like to restore some of these site and get them working as it should again. Hopefully I'll find the time soon :) . In the meantime I've got a couple of 1969x car updates nearing completion to ease the wait :) .

Tommie.

Hi Chris,

here's another one with great interest in specific car-sets for the complete '68 season. I would really appreciate if you'd continue your excellent work. :thumbup:
