Guess so GS so a big thanks again! :)

As I started out i actually edited all the dat files to replace the car skin of mine. No problems with that but perhaps I shall follow your advice. Let the dats be and drop the car mips in the root folders as well.

I've just decided to make my version of the Buco open face helmet as well. More adaptable to the front I guess and opening that front file generated two bmp with built-in transparancy in the mip. So I just drop that :).

This will be enough information for me to complete the 69X. On the way I also understand why my face file wasn't used when I edited 67 Historical so now I can fix that as well. Next Project will be the 67GTs. Later on :).

You will only be able to modify the Porsche 910-8 player helmet (and the AI driver's helmets, if you like) as the other car models do not use 3D driver helmets.

Thank's for the input. Haven't even looked into it yet. But name tagging the players car would work or?

Nice cars! CanAm has been next-in-line-MOD to me since it was introduced. Do they drive well?

69X Done! And after all this work I'll just have to show the final result (if anyone still have some interest in this procedure). Two cars and three different helmets/faces variants are used to the GP Circuits. Some could share helmet/face mips and some had to be unique. This is how:

c06 and c29 (ES-ROC-MNC cicuits): Open helmet with face of my own
c23 and c24 (NL-FR-GB-DE cicuits): Jet helmet with face of my own
c25 (IT cicuit): White Jet helmet adapted to the default Stewarts face

The MS80 is the same in all races except different painting at Monaco. Wings and other details are not depending on the basic car bodies.

And as GS suggested I didn't edit any orignal dats, just preloaded mips in root folders, due to order of load. Thank's again.

Over and out! :)

I know I'm bumping an old thread, but has anyone done this same thing with the Lotus cars? I like the 69X's (currently driving the 67's) and as stupid as this sounds, one reason I don't want to drive the 69X's is because I cannot get my helmet to work that I had designed for the original 69 1.2 mod. As this last post would seem to suggest, could I not just drop the mips of my old helmets into the correct folder(s) for the Lotus and they should work? I originally used a copy of Rindts helmet since it most closely resembled a full face so I'm not crossing car to car, I'm keeping it in the Lotus family which would to me, based on this thread, eliminate some of the issues.

Does anyone know which of the 40+ folders I would need to either modifiy or, if possible, drop my existing helmet into to get it to work? I almost only ever drove the low wing 49B, though I might like to take the bi-lane for a spin around Montjuich now and then.

For the low wing Lotus 49B, drop your helmet mip in the c21 folder, and rename it to 'vl04helm.mip'.

The bi-plane high winged Lotus 49B is a little bit more tricky. It uses l04helm.mip but it probably steals it from a car folder loaded beforehand. Attached you will find a new 3do, which has to be placed in the c27 folder. After placing the file there, drop your helmet mip in the c27 folder as well, and rename it to '-l04helm.mip' (yes, that's a small horizonal stripe). That should make the bi-plane work as well :) .

BTW I made an update for the Lotus 49B last year. Check it out here: https://www.grandprix...49/lotus49.html . The attached 3do should work with the update as well.

Got it working pretty good. Face isn't quite right with the bi-plane wing. Will test more tomorrow. Thank you again!
