Starting right now, on Friday evenings, at 9:30 Eastern US time, VOR races a mix of mods – 67 F2, 69 extra and CanAm 71 cars.  We have a wide variety of drivers’ abilities and friendly racing.  We encourage newcomers to GPL and/or online racing to join us.  In fact our fun races and all of our Wednesday evening practices are open to everyone.  Look for the VOR server in iGOR.

We race 60 minutes for points races and 40 minutes for fun races.  In the points races, Shift+R resets outside of the pits are allowed, but then a Stop-and-Go penalty must be served in the pits.  The Orange Zone, from the start through to the first or second corner of the first lap in most cases, is where passing is restricted to only the safest situations, to avoid pile-ups just after the start of a race.

This Friday (today), Feb 1, we're having a race at Solitude with the wingless cars of the 69 Extra mod.  Those are pretty much the 1968 cars which didn't have wings.  The Lotus 49 has a front wing which is only effective at a slow circuit.  At higher speeds it sort of makes the rear of the car lift.

The cars are a lot of fun to drive and without the downforce cars to compete with, it's like a new mod.  You'll just want to get used to the amount of sliding - a little less than the 67 cars but a lot more than the downforce cars.  The Lotus and BT24 are the fastest at this circuit with the BT20 and Cooper not too far behind.

This is a non passworded race that is open to anyone at 9:30 pm Eastern US time, Friday.
