The Abarth 1000 TC temp and pressure gauge seems to get overexposed compared to the other gauges on the dash

Thanks Leon.  Its due to our instrument lighting feature but I'm sure we can produce a better solution for this car.

the Porsche 906 cockpit textures are in low resolution even if the HR box is checked in the graphics option menu

Well spotted!

Leon, I really appreciate your bug reports, but it would help me if you could add which specific car you have the issue with (even if you don't know if the bug is just specific to that car).

Only one of the 16 906s has this bug and it took me a little while to find it.

Really sorry David :( I assumed that it was a general bug for the car, I didn't thought that it could have been related to just one specific entry :( I'll be more precise

While driving today, I noticed none of the gauges, tachometers, or speedometers in cars I was driving had indicator needles in them.

I had this problem with the WSC70 mod. Checking high resolution cockpits fixed it.

I screwed up my first attempt at installing P&G v3.2 last week. This week I should get P&G going too.

The Ferrari 275 GTB/C *all entries* water and oil temperatures seem not to be working

Didn't test the Speciale

Thanks again Leon.

The gauges work - the issue is the not uncommon issue in P&G that the engine isn't getting hot enough.  Unusually perhaps the gauges measure from 60 degrees and the engine doesn't reach that temperature.  I have already done new physics for the 275 GTB for v3.3 and the engine gets suitably warm.

Don't mention it :) I love PnG and I gladly do it so that I can help

Nice to know about the 275 GTB/C :) as already reported also the Escort suffers frome the same problem (Ford Escort TC FVA version (1960's FIA Group 5)), I'll post it here too just to serve as a reminder as I fear to forget about it.
Another car that I have some perplexity about is the Abarth 1000TC: the oil temperature seems to be too high, and easily get's overheating. I don't know if it's correct this way, but I thought it would be right to report just in case. You can see it also in my picture in previous post that it's already at the limit and I was driving cool

On another note, the Porsche RSR 3.0 (I tested *Toad Kramer Racing* skin) driven on soft compound has too much grip in my opinion. I understand it is on soft semi-slick but it corners better than a modern F1 on slicks, it simply never loses grip. Especially for a 3 liter model. Don't know, but it drives totally different from the similar car in the Virtua_LM GTPC mod recently released for rFactor. There, the car is very tricky. On PnG with softs, it is grounded.

I have done some testing. With the default gearing at Anderstorp GP, oil temperature barely exceeded 90 C.  With the shortest final drive at Anderstorp North I think I got up to 96 C.  Both temperatures are fine.  What could do with raising is the temperature at which the engine life starts to reduce - currently 100 C.  Also I suspect the instrument texture is slightly out of position and may be giving you an over-estimate of the oil temperature.  I will take a look when we get round to addressing the other issue with the gauges.

It is interesting how we perceive grip.  In my experience most sim racers including me are not good at it.  When we released the 65 mod for GPL many many years ago, the common reaction was the cars had more grip than the original Papy 67 cars.  They actually had the same grip, just more forgiving at the limit and a lot less power.

What we need is a scientific method of measuring grip and for P&G we use a 190m dia skid-pan, the same as Porsche used in this period.  We also need period data to compare with rather than another mod.

Using the skid pan, the P&G 911 RSR 3.0 corners at around 1.18g.  We do not have Porsche figures for the production RSR but the prototype RSR, which was lighter, cornered at 1.26g, so we believe our RSR doesn't have too much grip - maybe it needs a little more.  It is no where near a modern F1.  The default setup is very safe - perhaps too safe.  I would have gone with an edgier setup, though with its wide rear tyres, a tail heavy weight distribution and a heavily locked limited slip diff, the RSR is always going to have good traction.

However you are right that it has more grip than the Porsche in the GTPC mod.  Now the Porsche in the GTPC mod might look like our 911 3.0 RSR but it is quite different.  It is a 934.  The 934 weighs 1120kg compared to the 911 RSRs 930 kg - 20% more.  It also has much more power - 485 bhp compared to the 330 bhp of the 911 RSR - 47% more.  By 1976 the regulations had changed trying to stop the ever wider tyres, and the 934 was restricted to 12.5" wide rear rims while the 911 RSR had 14" wide rear rims.

On the skid pan the GTPC 934 corners at around 1.04g.  This is far too low IMO.  I haven't any Porsche data to hand at the moment but our Ford GT MkII, of similar wieght corners at around 1.04 g on narrower much older tyres.

The 911 runs on slicks rather than semi-slicks.  Slick racing tyres came in in 1971.

Thanks :) It happens frequently to me that the engine smokes for a while during a race due to hot oil temp and then slightly cools down. But it could totally be the natural behaviour of the car, I understand it. Or me driving badly :D

I know David ;) thanks for the explanation :) I expected the car to be much more nervous. Usually Porsche are that way at least in virtual reality, sadly never driven one in real life. But I am totally confident in your and yours team methods, so if you say everything is as it should be, then I believe it is :)
Sorry if I probably wasted your time, I hope you'll understand I just want to help.

I had no idea the engine smoke could be generated by over-heating.  Are you sure?  I'll give it a test.

I don't want to make out the mod's physics are perfect - they are not.  Just like the professional developers are regularly updating their physics, we can always improve.

Absolutely! If the oil overheats, the engine starts smoking a white cloud. Then stops when the oil get's back to normal. Problem is, at least in my case, even when revving to get back from some bad skidding the oil gets the engine to briefly smoke. Happened lots of times to me in the Abarth, never in other cars for now

This is NOT PnG *strictly* related

However, this bug seems to afflict both GT Legends and GTR2 (and so PnG we can say). It seems that Simbin forgot to add textures for the pillars at the base of the Anderstorp tower. They, as a result, appear as blue\violet. It happens as I said in both titles. I offer a screenshot from GT Legends as I modded my GTR2 tracks BUT I tested it on that also removing all updates and it was the same as for it's older brother.

I know the PnG team is not responsible for this, still since I don't know the Simbin community I didn't therefore know where to post this. I trust David or the team to know who to ask to fix this. I don't think it would be hard to. As I said, I believe it's just a missing texture.
