The Südschleife would make way for the colossus: The Nürburgring Gesamtstrecke.

Personally I wouldn`t think that far.

I think the work would be colossal, and you would get a track that (as far as I know) was only used by touringcars in the late 60s "Marathon de la Route" events in 84 (in words: EIGHTYfour) hour races, which displaced the earlier Spa-Sofia-Liège or Liège-Rome-Liège races/rallies, so none of the actual and (hopefully) forecomming GPL-cars drove on that track.

To be modest, I would be happy as a clown to see a nice Südschleife, as it fits perfactly to the F2 mod, and maybe the Start-und-Zielschleife, as it is mostly a part of the Südschleife.

But if anybody would have the  persistance to build a pre `67 Ring, I would prefer to see a new Nordschleife rather than that "complete" thing.

P.S.: "...so none of the actual and (hopefully) forecomming GPL-cars drove on that track."
That doesn´t mean, that I hope, that none of the forecomming GPL-cars drove on that track!

I'm bringing this thread back. I now have GPL working and I want to split my time between making this track and perfecting my driving. Whoever has this track, I would appreciate it if it was sent to me.

    Hi Autoholic

I don`t know your experience in creating tracks for other sims.
But for GPL it is something completly different, as other members have posted before.

As you seem to be new to GPL I would suggest that you first start with creating a basic track, as described in the "GPL Track Creating" by GPLEA
    https://home.online.n...ing/default.htm

If you manage that you can think about trying a bigger track.

I don`t want to irritate you, but I never managed to get that far and gave up my plan to create a track for GPL. :D ;)
    Good luck!
The more track creators for GPL the better, as there are not many active members left knowing how to create tracks for GPL.

If someone was to create a full combined version of the nürburgring, then it would be a shame not to make a more accurate version of the north loop itself as currently that isn't the most faithful.
I'm not suggesting that that is necessarily realistic though, just saying, if you're going to go to all that trouble, might as well go the whole hog. Mind you even a corrected nordschleife would be amazing.

Any tracks like this we get are really a bonus, and says something about the dedication of this community to be honest :)

The Brno Masaryk from 1949 is a great track that many use, even though none of the cars drove there, so I am sure that wouldn't be a particular problem. However, as you said, the work would be colossal. I was mostly joking. I love the Nordschleife and am pretty sure that it has a nicer flow to it than the Gesamtstrecke would.

Yes, every new wonderful track further enhances what is beautiful about GPL.

Are we sure the work would be colossal? Afterall, all the work for the track will already be done, only have to "connect some poly's". And either way, if we're so close to having yet another epic track in Grand Prix Legends, shouldn't we all put out shoulders under it and make it happen?

I'd much rather have the shoulders of the folks under a project that would actually make sense completing - the sudschleife.

I saw it from the POV, that the Südschleife (which we don´t have by now) would be connected with a new Nordschleife and in this case the word colossal ( or for my sake simply "big") is not too exaggerated, I think.

But sure it´s true that the number of races, which were held on a particular track is not  the only point.

And concerning trackbuilding I had a more historical interest on some forgotten tracks up to now, which sometimes results in some tracklayouts without any practical result for GPL.

It's not as easy as you put it. Afaik you can't merge tracks the way you describe.
There is a way to merge 3do's but that still leaves the trk file to merge.
Let alone all the other built files like the track objects. Before that can happen the sudschleife needs to be finished and you would need the built files of the Nurburgring which aren't available since it's a default track.

I know it's not easy and that's not what I was trying to suggest, but rather I was suggesting that it might not be as much work as to build a completely new track which I would describe as colossal. Still, I didn't think of the missing built files, that might be an issue...

Someone did built the 'entire' sud plus north Ring a while ago for rF or maybe GTL, I think, including the Betonschleife, by linking the Nick303 Sudschleife bits together to the rest, and that's the only thing I remember about it, but I'm not sure where the entire bit is hosted.

Yes, by Smogbike who also developed the sued, the north without the chicane and the straightloop (how you call that?)

With smartphones and GPS and apps and all that, I imagine it shouldn't be too hard to get the correct elevation data for the Südschleife as much of the track is still there.

Of course! We are currently looking at improving the layout, after that we'll dress the track up so it looks a bit prettier. Right now it's not really suited for screenshots yet :) .

            Great, good to hear.

Do you have an expected date when you think you'll be done with the track? Or is it just guessing now?

It will probably be somewhere in 2015, as we have a lot of other projects going on as well.
