There's been a long-standing bug with GEM and the Thundercars mod, where you can't select a setup for your car from GEM before starting GPL.

With the release of the Can-Am mod, and its use of new setup file suffixes ".ha1" to ".hh1", I thought to myself that there must be some way to fix this problem. After digging around various GEM directories and files, I found a solution. Here's a copy of the readme file from the attached ZIP, which should explain everything:

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
This is the readme file for the GEM Thundercars Setup fix by Saiph (Keith Ballard).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This corrects the problem where you can't select any ".tc1" setup files from GEM
before starting the Thundercars mod.

I've simply made some minor changes to the Thundercars carset data file to
include several lines which tell GEM which files to list.

The amended file is:

[GPL]\Mods\GEM+\gplTC.cst
where [GPL] is your base GPL directory containing GPL.EXE.

To install the fix:

1. Go to your "[GPL]\Mods\GEM+" directory.

2. Rename the file "gplTC.cst" to back it up. NOTE: Make sure the backed-up file
does NOT have a ".cst" extension, otherwise GEM will get confused. I suggest a
name such as "gplTC.cst.original".

3. Copy the gplTC.cst file from this zip to the same directory.

4. Optionally copy this readme file into the directory as well, to act as a reminder.

You should then be able to start GEM, select your Thundercars driver, and be able to
select any preferred Thundercars (".tc1") setup. When you click the green button and
get to the track, you should have your selected setup on the car, ready to go.

If you should wish to remove the fix for any reason, simply rename the "gplTC.cst"
file (perhaps to "gplTC.cst.new"), and rename the ".original" file to the normal
name.

If you get any problems or need any clarification, please post to the SRMZ thread
where this fix is posted and I'll do my best to help.

Enjoy!

Saiph.

(EDIT: Changed the name of the README file in the zip so it doesn't cause confusion with the 69-Extra mod fix if it's in the same directory.)
