\Complete Soundset/

--------------------------------------

Before installing, don't forget to do a backup, just in case you don't like these sounds or something goes wrong during copying.

All engine and atmospheric sounds courtesy of:
Wolfgang Buthe (AKA Ducwolf), Mark Watkins (AKA Speed Eraser), Jeroen, Mitxel and Myself.

--------------------------------------

This soundset is meant to deliver the most realistic aural experience that can be delivered  within the limitations of the GPL sound engine.
They are quite impressive, as you'll agree once you've had a go with them yourself.
Enjoy.

---------------

Engines:

Lotus DFV V8: My own new sound, This is taken from a video of a Lola T280 going around the historic circuit of Spa Francorchamps in 2011 (search for 2011 spa classic Lola DFV on youtube). It sounds quite powerful, but with slight noise at low revs .

Ferrari V12: My own sound, Taken from the popular Parkes Monza recording. This is the high rev, onboard dynamic of the engine.

Cooper-Maserati V12: Another sound of mine, taken from the Rindt Spa recording. This version of the sound is powerful and distorted.

Brabham Repco V8: Probably from tifo's 67 soundset, but I can't be sure.

Weslake Engineering V12: See 66 sounds readme (2.txt) for info.

BRM H16: As above.

Honda V12: As above.

---------------

alternatives:

Lotus DFV V8: Ducwolf's sound - more muffled, softer dynamic sound of the DFV. taken from a onboard video of the 1974 March 741, as driven by Hans-Joachim Stuck in 1974.

Ferrari V12: The earlier version of my sound. It presents what would be heard from the outside - it's a very exhaust biased sound.

Cooper-Maserati V12: Ducwolf's Cooper is a non distorted mono sound. It is a clearer, less aggressive sound.

---------------

Atmospheric sounds are a mixture of ducwolf, mitxel, and myself.

---------------

Installation is simple.
1.Make a copy of your existing sound folder (and put it in a safe place just in case).
2.Copy new sounds folder into your GPL directory.
3.Try out all the sounds and swap alternatives if you like.
4.RACE!
---------------

Happy racing.

Just driving the lotus, I don't know what you have done with it, maybe some extra mechanical noises have sneaked in? But it sounds alive... it gurgles at low revs, it chokes at high revs and somewhat clicks and clings at mid revs, like there are multiple layers of sounds and not only one .wav... if you can add something like that to the rest of the engines, it will be great. But lets see what others say about it, I'm no good with sounds and can't tell whats v6 and whats v12 by the sound...shameful, aint it?

Not sure if its the cause, but I did have my first freeze up during race
ever with the 67 cars after installing soundset  Could just be a
coincidence.   Going off track in the grass certainly gets your
    attention !  :o

Research and new loops are indeed most respectable and I'm glad to see a new editor for GPL sounds.
My recommendation for bingo is to insure, that all sounds are at 22005Hz, 16 bit ( stereo or mono ).
This will prevent major problems with PC systems as I described many times before.
This might be the reason for freezes and high latencies in online races !!!

In addition I would like to here all similar engines at one pitch. The Lotus and BT24 V8 for example have a spread of 1000 rpm,
    witch is not logical.
To finish the sound set it would also be great to have similar volumes and dynamic ranges for all files.

The new files from bingo are convincing while the compilation is authentic. Only the BT24 doesn't fit to the real thing.
Why always these muscle car sounds for the brabham V8 ?

Keep on the good work

The sounds are already sound adjusted
It'll take a while for me to change the file type and keep the pitch the same. I'll do it when I have some time to spare.
(I thought that [8 bit 44,100Hz] was essentially [16 bit 22,050Hz] anyway but there you go.)

    Info on the Brabham sound:
It seems that both sounds are accurate, but the sound in this set is accurate more of the time.
The car sounds like the 2004 demo sound from some exterior angles (for example at 0:39 and 1:59), but the other sound dynamic can be heard more often (1:33 to 1:55, 2:02 to 2:18 and 2:31 to 2:37).
I'll change the revs to match the lotus when I change the format of the others.

Thanks alot for your work. One small noob question though.
The sound of the eagle, honda, BRM and Brabham are perfect.
But the sounds of the eagle, lotus and the cooper are disturbed..
With disturbed I mean that the high revs are really messed up.
    Any Idea?

    Just some informations:
What they named BT24 in this video is the 1965 BT11 with a 1.5 liter coventry V8. It can not be accurate for the 67 cars.
Other sequences are taken from a recording of Stewart in Zandvoort in the 2 liter BRM V8. Frankenheimer mixed it also
under parts of the film Grand Prix.  Keep on Your work, You will learn a lot about some fakes in motorsport films ;)

Does this cause the freeze up ? Bingo have you had a chance to change the file type ? Thanks Dave.
