Axel thx for making a PC near my setup and making screenshots.

The solution for my online chat/text lags was just switching from rasteriser Open GL v2 to Direct 3D v2 (in GEM+).
With Direct 3D v2 I didn`t have any chat/text lags at my last online race and the graphics are also nicer. I have no more zigzag lines in the distance with the same graphics settings (see screens).
With Direct 3D v2 the GPL menu text is a bit blurry and buttons can flicker and in the replay menu buttons can disappear, but I can live with that.

As you notice on the screens attached in Open GL v2 the font of the Pribluda text display is different. In Direct 3D v2 the font is smaller and clearer.
It seems like Direct 3D v2 works better with modern graphics card drivers in-game with text and graphics display.
But Direct 3D v2 it is too hard on FPS.
Therefore I do not recommend Direct 3D v2.

Edit 1: With Direct 3D v2 you may most likely have very low FPS. Try a full AI race with 1969 F1 Extra Mod (or 1967 Sports Cars Extra Mod -> see last screenshot) at Spa67 and start from the back of the grid. If you have low FPS try to reduce your graphics settings in Nvidia Profile Inspector (like lower Antialiasing - Setting value, lower Antialiasing - Transparency Supersampling value). You can set different graphics settings individually for each gplmod.exe. If that does not work you may have to use Open GL v2 instead of DirecT 3D v2 for that mod (and track).

Edit 2: OpenGL v2 still works best on my system (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 graphics card). With Direct3D v2 I have massive FPS hits (see last screenshot).

Nice to hear that you found a solution, Stefan. I know the horrible framedrops in the race without warning. It wasn't funny...

In my case with 3D_v2 I have absolutely no problems with chat/text lags, but I have others. When I leave the pits at many tracks the framerate drops from 60fps to about 35fps. Because I had no idea what I can do against it I tried to solve the ogl_v2 problems and I found the solution for me. I stay at ogl_v2.

But with 36fps 3D_v2 is the easier way it seems.

BR Olaf

P.S.: I have no dots with my solution above. I see only "drivers name:"

Yes I am still skeptic too if in a heavier mod like 69x D3DXV2 helps...
Of course the lags of the chat messages are gone, as DX has no problem with fonts.

So Stefan please test a full AI grid Spa67 with 69X and start from the rear... ???

Yes low FPS can be a problem. :(
I have updated my post above (also with a screenshot).

This is also a problem in Linux-wine with intel or AMD GPU where openGL is not supported correctly...

Maybe in W98 compatibility mode for the DX7 and maybe the DX9.0c sdk should also be installed under the PF (x86).

I found this https://forums.tomsh...64-bit.3149080/

Thanks Axel, for your constant help, here and in private messages.

I haven't had any FPS problems/ or lags of any kind in chat messages during online races for months, and this without a modified GPL exe with a hex editor (didn't fix the problem for me). I am now seeing the GPL standard texts again (I am using my backup exe again before I made the hex editing ;) ) when a driver connects or disconnects. Also I don't have any problems anymore when someone writes a long text in the GPL chat.

Also the navigation in the GPL menus is not as slow as before. GPL seems to be able to handle fonts better now.

I still have the best FPS in GPL on my system with OpenGL v2.

I can't say 100% why this is the case, i.e. if it was due to the old DirectX9 version (see below) [which actually can't be, since I use OpenGL v2], or if a new Nvidia graphics driver update or a Windows update fixed it.

Here is the DirectX9 version from 2006 that I installed (thanks to Axel`s tip).
Maybe it will help someone where GPL works better with Direct3D3 v2 than with OpenGL v2.

I suspect that an Nvidia graphics driver update has solved my problem (I always update to the latest), and I also keep Windows up to date.

I have never had problems with GPL on Windows 10 in all these years.
Only once when Pribluda didn't work properly after a Windows update, but that was fixed with the next Windows Update that was released soon after.

I am happy that I don`t have any chat text lags anymore in GPL. :)
