it's time to update all sounds in GPL. I will start today with the iconic Ford Cosworth DFV engine.
It might be one of the most driven engines in GPL and it is in fact the most driven and successful F1 engine of all times.
You may use the attached file for all DFV powered cars in GPL.
Of course You have heard the engine in different ways, but after 9 years of working on the sounds, I can insure You the differences
are mainly caused by different recording qualities and circumstances.
One of the very best recordings of the DFV You can hear in the following You Tube video, that shows a cockpit camera of the 1974 March 741,
driven by Hans-Joachim Stuck in 1974. Maybe You are a little bit surprised by the sound, but I am sure this is the way the drivers ears took notice
of the engine. Only might have been covered a little bit by the helmets.
To reproduce the sound with one single wav file it needs some tricks to let the engine sound natural over the whole rev range and that caused
btw that the sound is covered a little bit. You will see ( hear ) how it works.
I will start with the stereo file. Further tests and tweaks are planned, but I'd like to share this version with You.
So please enjoy the video and hopefully the new file.
Cheers,
Wolfgang
