Well if I'm judging correctly, I *think* meant 'four-wheel drifting', in the sense that I'm not fully sideways per se, just initiating enough of a slide to whip the tail out and back in again while maintaining speed. This isn't always successful however, and I'm still trying to get the hang of it, but when I pull it off right, it's a feeling that is unparallelled. In any case, I'm concerned that I will get too use to the light weight drifty feel of these 60s cars, and not want to go back to modern Formula 1 cars in other sims  :o  :(

I heard a story once about an f1 driver who quit in the early 1970s because the cars were becoming too easy to drive, and didnt slide anymore. Welcome to gpl.

Hi there, been away from GPL for a while, just came back and discovered the F2 mod has been released  :yeah: ..... but the link to the F2 Legends site doesn't seem to be working for me.....
Just thought I'd check if it's something at my end or the site is actually down at the moment?

How do I create an F2 driver profile? Is there something special I need to do?

This is done simply by going into GPL's main menu > Player Info menu and create a new driver.  I use First name: Bob, Last name: Simpson SimpsonF2.  All of your F2 setups and best times are saved under that player name directory that way and most people find that more convenient.

Love the F2 mod and for a while, I was whooping the AI. Reminded me of the GT mod in this regard. But I guess it was too good to last. My last race with the AI was at Enna. In practice I was about 5sec faster than the fastest AI, which was similar to other tracks I had tried previously. Come the race, I was on the front row of the grid, but by the first corner, I had already slipped back about 10 places. I was essentially uncompetitive. The AI had improved by about 10secs a lap. To make matters worse, on corners that I took easily at speed during practice, I was now running wide and off the track.

It is not track specific, as I tested myself at Brands, where I was top of the heap previously. I am now an also-ran again! I also checked the set up of the car and there was no change there.

I am not looking to get back to being ahead of the field. I play GPL so infrequently that I expect to finish in the bottom half of the field. I'm really only interested in why the sudden change.

Can anyone explain what has happened?

      Cheers

      Steve

      steve,

check what the ai strength is set to in GEM, probably 1, correct? i think that's the setting where they learn to adapt to your times. so when you improve, so will they. takes around 10 laps or so i believe. you can use GEM to adjust AI strength, try .95 or .9 for starters

Not quite right, Sky. From GEM help:

close enough :P. however i'm sure he has it set to default - whatever default is - i can't remember being running them at various below 1 settings for years now, so can't say what is "normal". 0 sounds good though.
the description of the effect in the first paragraph of that is what he is experiencing, so... setting it to 1 or less than 1 should be ok for him.

Thanks for your help. GEM is set to 0 and I have not adjusted it at all, so I assume this is the default setting. I will try with a setting of 1 and see what happens

I just drove the mod for the first time this arvo.
Selected Zany , changed the steering ratio and jumped in the McLaren like a good little Kiwi...
Good grief I was happy by T1 and whooping by the hairpin !!!
What a fantastic feel it has :)
Most realistic iteration of physics yet I reckon.
Wonderful feel and steering loading. So accurate and grippy.
      Congrats to all involved !

I echo the sentiments of Transit in the previous post,I couldn't be happier! Sorry to be a tail end Charlie and come late to this party, but this was the ONE mod I always did want from the start. I can't state my appreciation enough to the F2 mod team for delivering the goods.

If we can ever see the 1967 F1 cars having their physics modelled to the same degree of excellence as what has transpired here with the F2 cars, well, that will be enough for me and I can die a happy camper.

My thanks and gratitude once again. :yeah:

I started driving the Skippy over at iRacing a few days ago, and it much harder to drive than these F2 Mods. I actually prefer to drive these F2's over the Skippy. They are easier to drift and don't snap at the slightest inch of oversteer.
