Taking advantage of the GPL 69 Mod Extra feature of having specific car liveries and participants for each race, I produced some simple graphic add-ons to reproduce also historically correct driver helmets for each race.

More notable Ickx wore a white full face helmet at Montjuic and at Monaco.  Rodriguez  had a white with black stripes full face helmet  at Silverstone.  Ickx  also add in many race a dark visor rather than a transparent one. Rindt used at least three helmets: a very dark green jet helmet at Kyalami, Brands Hatch, Motjuic , Mosport, Watkins Glen and Mexico. Full face white helmet at Zandvoort and at Clermont Ferrand. And a silver with a black square jet at Silverstone, Nurburgring, Oulton, and Monza. Also Stewart and Beltoise not all the time had a full face helmet at the same races. Etc. also for those drivers who raced only occasionally.

I could reproduce all the above with the only limitation to have to change Rindt number in the entry field from 2 to 20 at Zandvoort and from 2 to 22 at Silverstone and at Nurburgring. However the car number remains n.2 as it was.

What I was not able to do is to modify in a jet helmet the beautiful full face helmet for the Brabham’s drivers. Therefore as well as the GPL Moser is racing with a full face helmet of the green colour of his original jet,  I have reproduced for GPL Brabham a full face helmet of the colour of the jet he used  from Zandvoort  on and accepted that.

The add-on contains also some new faces and helmets for some drivers.  Few are just changes in skin colours because on my PC the originals were just too reddish. There are also new green front and back wings for the home Brabham  at Zandvoort  and some other cosmetic on few liveries. I may also include for almost each car the shadowed wheels  which were made in the past and new car cam which I made in order to better appreciate the beauty of these 45 cars. Each change is independent from the other and it will be explained in a small read text in each car folder.

If there is interest and with the bless of the originator of the mod, to whom , together with all those who contributed, goes my gratitude  to let  me have so much fun, once I will have made  the “read_me”  texts (one for car), which is taking almost the same time than make the graphics,  I would post my add-on.

Rindt actually raced with one of Piers Courage's open face helmets in France. I think he had breathing problems with the full face one, which might have been due to an illness.

I would certainly appreciate your addons. The realism police would be proud of you, too!

I have indeed two photos of Rindt at Clermont Ferrand with two different helmets. One must refer to the race, the other to the practice. But I didn't know which one was for what.

And here it is. Please note that some of the addons require to change the drvc69 in the track folder: car c15 oulton drvc69; car c21 nurburg, siverstone and zandvoort drvc69s; car c40 watglen drvc69. Those new drvc69 are all included in the car folders, but do not forget to backup the existing ones in case you do not like the addon and want to come back to how it was. Have fun.
