HI CAMPERS!Just found a file on my external hard drive I downloaded way back in the mists of time-THE BEST OF PAPYRUS GAMES-which as loose files of full games like nascar,nascar3,GPL,Indianapolis 500,Viper racing and Nascar legends. You just have to extract the game you want to play onto one of your drives, hit the exe and away you go :) So I popped Nascar legends onto my drive and HEY PRESTO everything ok except when I go to the graphics selection in options you can pick-No 3d acceleration,Glide 3d or full 3d acceleration. It will not let me run glide and asks for dll or something, lets me run no acceleration ok with smooth performance, but with direct 3d it lets me run but the car is slow and robotronic. So I have to go back to no acceleration.I wondered if there was anything I can do to run direct 3d acceleration or is it my OS system(dreaded Vista)or my graphics card Nvidia Go 73000   :idunno: Also does anybody know of any files or old sites that are still going for this old classic game.I managed to get the update patch 1.204 I think it was.I have also found some extra tracks which I am tryin to insert without a track installer  THANKS ALL AND SORRY FOR THE OFF TOPIC non GPL CHAT  :hat-tip:

Hi and welcome to Nascr Legends!
I like this old game. I can not help you with your problem. But I also had some problems with d3d once. I reinstalled videocard drivers to solve my problems. You can try to search info about your problem, but use "Nascar Racing" 3 instead "Nascar Legends". Both this games use same engine, and Nascar 3 is more popular.

Active community for old Papy Nascar sims is here https://www.simcyberworld.com/board/

Here you can find my versions of 'lost' tracks from 1970 season for Nascar Legends (you need registration) https://www.simeditor...c.php?f=3&t=222 Or maybe I can sent it to you.

Archive with 234 cars for NL
https://www.simcyberw...egends&start=15

Also good sites are
https://www.rubbins-r....com/downloads/
https://nascarlegends...om/1970cars.htm

If you will have problems ask me. I'll try to help.

I can't recall if the 1.2.0.4 patch includes something to help with the graphics or not but I think I couldn't use the 3d acceleration fresh out of the box but instead had to install the patch (or maybe it was something else?).

NL 1.2.0.4 patch is located here - https://www.sierrahel...ingUpdates.html

If you don't have it yet, get it and it might help but as I said, I don't recall.

And if you want some other stuff...

WONDERFUL-WONDERFUL-WONDERFUL  Thanks ZiggyM for the links and all the help :hat-tip: By the way If anybody can help-I have put some extra tracks into Nascar legends which are from Rubbin racing and somewhere else?I have put them in with no installer. Some have gone in ok and show up on the track list in the game, whereas some others don't want to show   It usually asks you to get a dat file from nascar 3 or similiar and put that in the new track file and then run the windows batch file. After that you have to alter the all cal file by adding the track name and next track number. As I said I seem do do everything right but the tracks-NCFAIR and Columbia don't want to show up  There  also is an application inside one of the latter files called PUNKBUSTER,but I don't know what it is or what it does  Anyway any ideas and help would be valuable and thanks again ZiggyM:clap2:

The installers would add the track to your calendar so you will need to add any tracks that don't have installers to the all.cal manually.

The format is:
Race#   month   day   event#(0=1st, 1=2nd)   day/night(0=day, 1=night)   folder   sname   lname   laps   trackshot   eventlogo   miles

Here are the lines in my all.cal for Columbia and NCFAIR.

5  2  4 0 0 COLUMBIA Columbia_200 Columbia_200 200 trkshot.tga event1.tga 100
8  2 25 0 0 NCFAIR Home_State_200 Home_State_200 200 trkshot.tga event1.tga 100

I've attached my all.cal

Browse through the NL section at https://deltaracing.y.../NASCAR-LEGENDS for more stuff and/or join if you like.

Check out https://www.fortuneci...1494/index.html if you haven't already for NL stuff.

Have fun!

Something wrong in your all.cal file, I think. Maybe it's race numbers.

You use tracks from Rubbins-Racing. This tracks are based on various tracks from N3/N2. If you want to have right layout for this tracks I recomend to use my versions. They are on forum, link previous post

My tracks are
Albany Saratoga Speedway
Daytona Speedway
Dover Speedway
Kingsport Raceway
Langley Speedway
Middle Georgia Raceway
Nashville Speedway
Ona International Raceway Park
Savannah Raceway
Trenton Speedway

If you don't want to registrate on this forum, I can sent it to you.

I'm not sure if the spaces, that were removed from the post I did, are necessary or not.  And don't use the all.cal I attached unless you have all the tracks.

Sorry, but it's been 7 years since I've run NL and I can't recall all the idiosyncrasies that need to be in place to make it work..   :(

Attach your all.cal so we can take a look at it.  It's most likely something easy.

Hi ZiggyM thanks  I have never uploaded files before and it doesn't seem to let me attach anything :confused:I get the error message when I try to attach the cal-NOT ALLOWED TO UPLOAD THIS TYPE OF FILE :idunno: I tried to load these tracks in again-COLUMBIA,NCFAIR,MIDGA and LANGLEY FIELDS-the following is what happened. When I tried Columbia before it wouldn't show up but I tried again and hey presto it works.Ncfair will not show at all in the ingame track list :confused:Whereas two tracks-Langley fields and Midga(Georgia)show up in the ingame track list but when I hit the session button I get the error message-COULD NOT LOAD COMPLETE TRACK DESCRIPTION.The latter tracks asked me to get two tracks from nascar 3 to modify and they were I70 and Sboston. Thanks again for your time and help :hat-tip:
