You can use your existing 69 player if you wish. All existing setups will be valid.

Tommie.
But surely if you use the feature in GEM called "Link carset to player", then your '69 player will end up being linked with the new mod? Ok, you can certainly change this very easily by selecting either the "1969" or "69-extra" carset as you wish. But personally, I am going to set up a new player ("Keith69x Ballard") so that there is no chance of confusion. I think this method would generally be easier for all players. But that's just my  :2c:  ;)  :) .

Thanks, I guess...

Don't take it the wrong way Tommie, I do appreciate updates and mods still coming out for GPL of course. But I think the 69 mod and its first update came out in something like 2006, or so (?). Five whole years is a long time to wait for a second major update to a mod - these days five weeks or five months is more common for sims.
That said, I know modding for GPL is much harder due to the lack of modern tools so it'll always take more time. (If only iRacing would donate some of its development stuff to the GPL community and make it backwards compatible..)

Paul,
Guidance needed for the terminally stupid please.
So no need for a new 69-extra player? Just use your existing 69 player? All existing setups will be valid?

I am using the same 69 player as I do with the original mod. But there is no problem with making a new player specifically for this new mod.

I don't think anybody has waited for this, they had the part 2 and 3 or the 1969 mod, the 1966 mod, the 1967 Sportscar mod, and the Stratos mod to keep them busy. Not like we sat around doing nothing, which is what your post implies. To the entire mod team, it came across as extremely impolite. I hope you will enjoy the mod as much as we do. FYI, the initial version of the 1969 mod was released in December 2006, so basically 2007, so that's four years and not five.

It is of course possible to create a new player for the 1969-Xtra mod,it's just a matter of personal preference. In any case, all existing 1969 setups will be valid.

Tommie.

Dear mods,

Is there any way I can block Rudy so his posts don't appear when I browse SRMZ? Thanks for any help you can give.  ;)

Paul,
Any chance you could let me know the car short-codes as they appear for laptimes in player.ini so I can work on an update of the GPLRank Tracker?

exe = gplx69.exe
Rank ID = Carset (gplx69)

short names =

B26
BRM
L63
M7A
312
49B
M80
L49
M84
M10
B20
B24
T86
T1F
M9A

I hope this is what you need.

paul

I think that should do it. All I'd need now is a player.ini file with a time or two for each car to test with, but in theory I have a new version of the Tracker ready to go from release.

Pleasant surprise that this mod should be the next up.. I was still expecting the F2s to be the next up (and still hoping for the Cortinas). Does that mean the F2s aren't far off either and we'll get 2 mods this summer?

@Rudy and in general:

4 years are a long time, for sure, BUT

- we all have a real life (well at least most of us ;) :D ) (job(s), family, kid(s), relatives, parents, friends, sports, holidays, other interests, taking off time of GPL, illness, death, birth, ... anything you can imagine)
- the still active GPL mod team is small and is cooperating on different projects (mods, tracks, programs, ...)
- GPL is harder to edit than other modern sims, as it is old and was never built to be edited
- GPL has the GPL Rank, so the physics should be final, when they get released, or the community will "kill" us :)
- the mod guys still discover new paramaters of the GPL code, resp. get to know the code better and better with each year/ mod/ project
- quality mods for other sims also take years, e.g. the great Power & Glory mod for GTR2. The team is working on that mod for several years now. Their aim is to release a new version every 1 1/2 years. The release of v3 is close.
- ...

So, 4 years are pretty quick imo :D

Well, if anyone wants to support the team with his skills and dedication and is of course trustworthy (meaning that he does not release things that are not finshed, or passes on special editing programs to pubic) is welcome to join us. The development might then be a bit quicker. ;)

Hi Darren,

The F2's aren't far off. We need to do some more work on the graphical side of things, as well as develop realistic AI behaviour for the cars. We are carefully aiming at July, but if we don't make that, it could become September due to summer holidays.

Tommie.

I guess Rudy could hire most of the GPL mods team, pay them 500,000 anual salaries after taxes and then ask for a GPL mod each 5 months ....

If energy drinks are compensated for it might be possible.

Totally agree.    :clap2:  (Well, except for the bit about GPLRankers killing the mod team - we rankers may be passionate, and sometimes slightly loony, but I don't think any of us is genuinely homicidal!    ;)  :P  )
