I drove the old Melbourne Loop back in the eighties, very evocative.
Keep up the good work.

Me too. They used to use the field with the Loop in it as a campsite for specatators back in the 70's/80's. When we used to go down to watch the International bike races everybody used to hurtle round the Loop on their road bikes. They put some big boulders across the track at the top of the hill on each side but there was still enough clear tarmac left to run down one side, get your knee down round the hairpin and then run back up the other side. Then with a bit of grass tracking you could do it all again, and again, and again!!!!

With everything else going on, I finally got a chance to go around. What a drive! I like blasting thru the tree's, with the sun rays shining down, and then wow!

Thanks a bunch

Alternatively, all the tracks which get released here on SRMZ are also available from the GPL Track Database HERE.

Not quite,
The pictures of the cars are indeed from a wip mod: the 37mod

The pictures of the track are from Luna's

it just feels so strange driving 1967 car in the 1937 surroundings
It is so real, incredible, incredibe sense of detail -particuary in the crowd where they are all dressed in 1937 fashion and there are no women -and that is historrically 100% correct ,because women didnt attend races in those times
great and accurate work, well done!

Years ago I read “Hitler's Grands Prix in England: Donington 1937 and 1938”, which basically describes the incompatible meeting between the British gentleman racer in his ERA or Maserati 6CM voiturette and the full blown German GP teams as a symbol of the mounting political tensions in Europe. On the historic grid, von Brauchitsch’s Mercedes W125 with 600hp for 750kg took pole with 2:10.4 and Raymond Mays qualified the best ERA with 240hp for 915kg at 8th place 16 sec. slower! A major concern for the Germans in 1937 was the jump over the hill coming down to the hairpin and back up to the start. Both Mercedes and Auto Union would loose road contact completely at their speed and that detail is fully present in this track.
Actually I wonder, if a GPL37 mod would be popular and representative of the original conditions: Carraciola, the 1937 “world champion”, in his memoirs describes driving the W125 race car, as driving a road car on ice and the Auto Union type C was notoriously difficult. These cars suffered wheel spin at 150 mph! The 1.5litre voiturette class on the other hand looks far more drivable. I have attended VSCC race meetings with Maseratis, Rileys and most of the original ERAs. That looked like non-aleins having lots of compatible fun. If the 37 mod wants to include a Mercedes über-voiturette, the W165 Tripoli car would do nicely :-).
I would love to try this and the other mods in the pipeline mentioned above, but unfortunately the “be carefull what you wish for…” cliché is at work here. With a semingly constant number of sim-racers, the more mods, the fewer racers per class. Logically, the collective creative efforts should be focused on a single project, which could attract sim racers from outside the GPL crowd. I think Papyrus originally made a wise choice, that 1967 was a very good F1 year, with a good range of competive cars. Personally I think 1955 has similar qualities for the 2.5litre front engine cars and I know of no other sims of that period.

Nice pictures. Is there some kind of demo of this mod somewhere avaiable?
or is just not possible due too much testing and make progress?

Mods aren't released as demo's because the physics/graphics are still undergoing testing.
Releasing a mod as a demo with unfinished physics/graphics will cause all kinds of trouble for various reasons.
We'ld be busier solving those problems first then finalizing the mod

While the images might look nice already there's still lot's of area's where we still need to work on.
I don't think a demo mod where several cars have mirrors, needles, etc.. missing and fps is still low would be much appreciated.
