Hi folks, Steve here, new member, new GPLer, new PC user too (sorry, Mr Jobs has gotten my computing moneys thus far), so it's been quite the learning curve.
I've been lurking here a lot and getting plenty of tips and downloads, and amazingly I've gotten a pretty stable setup so far with 65, 66, 67, 69 and GT all working well. So firstly, thanks.
My GPL folder looks pretty messy, I'm certainly not used to setting up file directories and a multitude of other PC specific stuff, but it's working fine so far. Maybe when a readme says to put something in the GPL folder, I'm supposed to drop it somewhere more specific than just the first GPL folder? I just don't know yet, but hey it works so far.
I am having a problem now that I've set up Pribluda though. d3dv2 rasterizer and openGL both ok, prib is now showing in both, but with a red text in the top left of the game screen, under the upper prib bit, saying
"unable to load pribluda.ini or wrong version, falling back to defaults"
I've downloaded 1.1.2 first and 1.1.1 since from the preferred locations here and elsewhere, but can't seem to find any pribluda.ini file in either of the DLs.
Pribchanger is in GPL folder, the .xml is in GEM Options folder now, I moved what seemed to be the .ini s (five different resolution prib thingys? to GEM Options, managed to select the correct resolution version ok), the Enable prib box shows up down by the car sounds box in GEM's front page, but somehow it still won't give up the everpresent red text in game?
Do I need to download prib 0.97 to get the .ini in the first place? Or??
Hope that's enough info.
And many thanks for this great resource for what I'm finally discovering is as good a sim as expected. I've had the CD sitting here for a year after hankering for the game for years, and now I've finally got access to the PC hardware to have a go I'm stoked. Onwards and upwards.
I can't get the replay analyser to find lap replays yet either, so I haven't been able to check telemetry to help me see how to get within 10 sec of a fastest lap even on a short track yet, and I'm a minute back at Clermont Ferrand in the 65's, which I've just discovered today, and LOVE (that little dirt track you can use when you've rolled umpteen times over the side of the mountain is a cack); but baby steps. Prib sorted first, replays next. Then maybe I'll try some online beginners races soon?
Cheers, and thanks again,
bbp.
