Nr2003 Mods

I have a long list of NR2003 mods, including setups, tracks, addons, templates, etc. I was thinking about starting to post all that material at these forums, but since the list is way long, I would like to hear your opinions about which mods should take preference.
Have your say

I have both open wheel mods, the legal one (OWR_beta) and the banned one (OWR05). Most of the stock car based mods are still available through regular N2k3 sites or at nr2k3tracks.com (Grand National '70 and "Saturday Night Stock Cars" are the most unique); I believe there are links here to those as well as the sport car mod, BTCC, and TPTCC. There is the, I believe illegal, "Lomod", aka ouioui, mod, with 50hp and 3-speed gearbox (I have it but have never tried it). Also the Open Wheel Sprint Car mod, though I know nothing about it; it's a 17meg exe which I've never installed. Or the BTR mod - Bronte Topless Racing - which, if memory serves me well, gives you a field of Camaro convertibles. An FIA GT 2005 mod. A "V8" mod, again I know nothing about it other than it comes with only two cars and uses PTA physics.

Aerowar 88
BGN
FIA GT 05
Grand National 1970 V2
GTP
IROC
Superspeedway.net ??? (unsure of this, just what I named the directory)
BTCC
Trans AM
Craftsman Trucks PWF and 09
V8 Supercars
1967 Sportscars
Open Wheel Racing 07
Any good ones I have missed would be appreciated, I don't play this much anymore but every now and then I get the urge and enjoy it for a couple of weeks. My 7 year old son loves it and as I pass my old computers on to him it is the best racing game he can run at the moment (he is 3rd in line behind another son and daughter so his computer is about 6 years old)

We won´t post links to any illegal mod, as GTP v1.0 or more of that kind.
The mods I have here are:
358
AD67 (not with the original tweaked physics)
Aero88
ARCA
ASA2004
ASA1990
ASRGV8
COT SprintCup
COT 10s
COT 10w
COT Dannisbet v3
COT SSNet
CTS09
CTS PWF
Cup1990 (with cts, gns and cup physics)
Ferrari 330
GN63
GN69
GN70 v3
GNS PWF
GTP
IROC
IROC_Z28
LateModel v2
LateModel 1990
Nationwide
Outlaw
OWR07
PTA PWF
SNC70
SuperSprint
TPTCC
Whelen
There are also many addons for most of those mods, as well as lots of tracks, real and fictional, plus addons for some of them.
THe list is too long and certainly there are lots of site out there where almost all these mods and tracks can be downloaded. I guess we could also post an updated list of active sites. Some of them may require to register, but this is, imo, a small price to pay to get files.

What is the "358" mod?
And, what is "AD67 (not with the original tweaked physics)"? I have an AD67 mod (aka sport car) but didn't know there was more than one.
I'd be interested in the GN63 mod, don't know how that one eluded me; I'd essentially lost interest in NASCARE by the mid nineties, the most modern carset I use is based on the Cup90 mod (and consists of an assortment of cars/drivers from the '85-'93 era) but mostly use the GN70 mod.
Only mentioned the "illegal" mods for sake of completeness; the only one I've used is OWR05, it's fun but obviously unfinished (though the cars have a nice reflective finish that's missing from the OWR_beta mod).
For those who don't like the GTP mod, I've converted the aSa Grand Am carset to PTA physics so it runs in N2k3.

Yes, you are right. Also, some mods were declared "illegal" because they included material that violated some copyrights, like GTP v.1.0, or so said FIRST/iRacing

Dave Kaemmer did indeed reused the N2k3 code. iRacing, his new simulation, is based on the N2k3 code but of course has been heavily modified until today. This in response to "(he claimed he was working on a new sim, but nothing ever materialized)" which IMO is wrong as he's still involved in iRacing. It's a matter of personal preferences whether you like it or not.

Bernd is right. I worked as betatester for FIRST for a long time and the first incarnation of their carsim was basically NR2003 with improvements on the physics for the PTAs and CTSs mods, which were developed by the Project Wildfire group. John Henry was one the members of the PWF team (notice his Red Sox Corvette included with the mod).
That modified NR2003 derived later in what was released later as iRacing carsim.
In any case, iRacing has legal rights on the NR2003 code and so any non official patch to NR2003 can not be published here. I guess we all want to keep NR2003 alive, but not at the price of putting in risk the SRMZ. And of course, no links to illegal NR2003 mods should be published here, period.

One thing is clear: the NR2003 code is excellent since they use iRacing software is highly based on it.

Must agree there. N2k3 is one of the few programs that's never given me any real problems (a sound glitch in XP cured by dropping acceleration a notch; a graphics problem in Vista cleared up with new vid drivers). Certainly can't fault Mr Kaemmer's programming skills.
BTW, the gn63 mod (CTS or Cup physics) can be found at https://www.hortonmot...randnational63/

It's still listed at nr2k3tracks (link is still good), also known as the "kiddie mod"; the info merely states 50hp, 3 speeds, and lots of grip. Included docs are only a couple of lines on installing; comes with six cars and a template, new layout and artwork files. Download is only 7meg. (Now I'm curious enough I may install it, after all these years.)

The cars and (ai drivers) are cartoon-like.
The mod uses regular nr2003 tracks, but the cars are slow (think lawnmower).
I installed it for my grandkids, but it took a lot of work to get the fast setups and track.ini adjustments to get it tailored to their ability. In the end, the grandkids preferred the real cars, and it is a lot easier to detune the real thing.
