The default carset included with the 66 Mod has no folder containing reduced sized mips so I've been unable to use this mod up until now. The 69 Mod has a lite carset addon so I decided to make one for the 66 carset. I can now run this mod with my Voodoo card/CPU combo but can't guarantee that it will load with all other existing computer/3dfx card combinations. I also tested this carset with a GeForce 2/MX 400 and can guarantee it gave this video card a healthy boost in performance when used in the same Pentium 900mz computer. This lite carset also gave a noticeable frame rate increase when used with an Athlon XP 2200/GeForce 4 Ti 4200 in heavy nose to tail traffic at Targa Florio(36 fps). So for anyone that would like to use this addon to increase their frame rate,here you are. I tried to do this fantastic carset justice by not reducing the mip sizes any smaller than needed. All credit goes to the 66 Mod team. I hope you enjoy these beautiful cars as much as I do.

Always good to have 'Lite' carsets, even if we don't always need to fall back on a lower-end pc. Thanks!

It was my pleasure as I'm the one that has to rely on a lower spec computer and video card. If just one other member can utilize this addon as I must then it is well worth the little effort to post it. Finally I'm getting some feedback and that I appreciate,whether it be praise or critisism.

Your effort is appreciated, even if we don't often say so. There are other places I hang out at where there are discussions about how people with "experienced" computers are getting left behind, and what to do about it. The standard answer is "buy a new computer whether you can afford it or not." Then I start talking about this car sim that came out in 1998 that can be run on anything from a P3 to the latest and greatest quad. It's a real thread killer.

Thank you very much Kenny for your continued effort to bring light / voodoo card compatible stuff into GPL . It's very usefull .
There has been a previous effort to make the 1966 carset voodoo compatible but for some reason it didn't work, although it did work as a 'light' carset since many of the textures were reduced in size. I hope that Voodoo users can now also try this mod .

Hi Guys
Was wondering if it was possible to use Kennys files and create a Lite carset just like the 65 mod that was selectable in GEM?
If it was possible what steps would need to be taken to do this?

Make a copy of the cars66 folder, and put Kenny's files in there. Then rename the folder to lite66 and select it in the GEM dropdown. That's it
