Although McLaren withdrew from the saloon race and from the qualifying session for the Tasman race at Longford in 1964, he did actually take part in the race itself, starting from the back and finishing second.

Glad you enjoyed the article Dave; Motorsport Magazine is great for historical stuff and they have a really good series of podcasts with a mix of past and current motor racing people talking about racing which are always worth a listen if you have an hour to kill.

Great link Ed. I hadn't seen that site before, but now have it safely bookmarked! Some great material on there.

Do you know if anyone has ever written a definitive book about the Tasman Series? I have the Pete Lyons Can Am book which covers the active years of that series, but I don't remember ever seeing anything along those lines for Tasman.

These are really great carsets.

I think that the missing Tasman tracks have been talked about quite a bit before. If Pukekohe, Teretonga, Longford and Warwick Farm were ever released I would really like to try put together some historical sets for the Tasman Series. How far along are these tracks? Have they been started? I would like to add another request for them.

I have thought about making historical sets for each race using the 66 mod and Keido's great work a few times but it doesn't seem worth it without the missing tracks.

Being Australian racing on all the Australian/New Zealand tracks in the complete Tasman Series is a very interesting idea to me.

Rob should know.. he made Wigram 1968 as one of the Tasman set, I've raced it in oAo.. Tom Guerout and Edhut completed the South African series in 2011, so now we have just the Tasman series tracks to complete from the era :wizard: (and Lobethal too :crossfingers:!).

There is a Longford beta track and a Warwick Farm beta track for GPL inexistence :) . It was never finished though, but if you want to finish it, I can give the track to you :) .

Pukekohe, Teretonga and Warwick Farm are available for GTR2 and Longford is available for GTL and can easily be converted to GTR2.  Unfortunately, although GPL tracks can be converted to GTR2/GTL they cannot be converted the other way, so I fear we may never see those four tracks in GPL, which would be a great pity, especially in the case of Longford, which was converted to GTL from Rfactor and is one of the most stunningly beautiful examples of the track maker's art that I have ever seen.

Yea Tommie I would like to take a look at them and see if there's anything I can do.

I got GTR2 a while ago but it crashes whenever I try to load a race and I couldn't find a fix for it so I decided not to bother with it. I might have to try get it working so I can take a look at these missing tracks.

I heard a rumour you might see one of them, don't hold your breath though ;)

Can you load a track just to do a solo practice session?  If not, you possibly have a missing file in locations/shared.

Just installed the 68 carset. Everything seems to work, except GPL crashes to desktop if I choose the Player or Team Info options on the main menu.

Anyone got any ideas why?
