Hi all.

Did the Cortina mod that was being talked about a while back ever come to anything? The few details I've read hint that it was on the way, but after my usual trawl through Google's offerings I have once again struck mud instead of the hoped-for gold (still, ten out of ten for persistence).

Be great to have them in the game though, wouldn't it? Up on three wheels round the bends, the back end sliding out and snaking off down the straight for the next corner...

Bliss.

Here's hoping  :D

There were some internal betas, but it seems to have just about completely stalled later on, about two years ago.

I'm doubtful that by now anything will come of it, since the author seems to have lost the will to finish the last bits - maybe got caught up in finishing other stuff for a while.

In other words: I wouldn't hold my breath for this one.

Thanks, Rudy.

Sad news - it would have been nice to have a more domestic series in the game.

Perhaps GT Legends put an end to it with its abundance of road cars and regular new mods...

If there isn't much to do to complete it maybe it could be handed over to someone else to do the last bits. Hell, I'd even learn how to do it!

Thanks again,

Lotus49  ;)

Steffen W has been busy with real life stuff so he has not had the time to finish this great mod. But I spoke to him recently and he definitely wants to finish it sooner than later.

As one of the beta testers I can say the that the current state of the mod is excellent and if it were up to me it would be released. But Steffen has some extra tricks up his sleeve which will enhance the mod even further so I guess they are worth waiting for.

While the GTL and especially the P&G Cortinas look terrific in screenshots they look terrible out on the track.  They have no wheel movement and look like they are floating above the track.  I'm looking forward to Cortinas with GPL physics.

Thank you, Paul!

Good news indeed. I, like many others, will keep an eye on the forum and await its arrival.

You might wantto try the rFactor historiX mod.  It has Cortinas in it and a WHOLE lot more.  My favorite rF mod by far.

You can race Cortinas with the Power and Glory mod for GTR2 and GT Legends.  See the P&G forum on this site for details.  I got both games in the one box over the net for US$20.  The P&G mod is free and darned good fun!

I think it is ok to give you a little insight on what is going on... :)

The Cortina mod was almost finished but real life got in the way, that`s why Steffen W. didn`t finish it anymore.
The Cortinas were never planned as a mod to be released. They were more like a tech laboratory to try certain things before the Sportscars were started
and only a very small group of testers had / have the mod.

As the Cortinas were and still are the baby of Steffen W. no one continued to work on it or dared to release anything to public.

I had a phone call with Steffen some weeks ago (nice guy btw) and he was also posting in the private forums.
He still has all mod files well sorted and backed up on his hard drive(s) but it is in a state where the physics/3d combination has been prepared for code changes that with Nigels departure then never happened. So today he would have to go some steps back both in 3do in physics and then again forward with other parameters compensating to get to where the Cortinas have been standing already.
He does not want to do this now. It takes a lot of time editing parameters, then driving, collecting data, driving, then giving it to the test group and observe.
The bottleneck is not manpower, it would need HIS time and a small testgroup as we had back then.
He does not want to take this time now, he wants to do it when he knows he has the time to really finish it.
This won`t happen in the close future, it may even take some years until he wants to go back on it.

So the mod is put on ice.
But you can be sure that when that day comes the old team of testers will be ready to help him to finish his baby. :)

Until then please enjoy the other mods that we already have for GPL, or will be released in future, like the 55 mod.... soon... :woot:

Good news.
With the near release of the 55 Mod to keep us all busy and, thankful of all the hard work of the Modders, there is no doubt that we can be patient an respectful of Steffen's wishes.
I shall have to be satisfied with my son's slot car version of the Lotus Cortina, lot of fun also :D :D :D :D
Good wishes to all

Clark’s amazing accuracy !!!

It would be very interesting to have a Cortina carcass in a third folder of the Stratos mod lancia, so it could run alongside the Alpine A110.
