Hey, nice. Thanks. I will give it a go, though I got my damping adjusted to where I got the extra effect stuff like hitting the armco, working pretty fun-like. If anyone likes to feel the bumps I use 8 on the damping slider for g25, and set core at 20 in the damping.
The ffb update does allow nonzero damping values in Core.ini, but everyone using such values should be very careful. The way damping works, as far as I understand it, is by adding a small value to the force which is opposite to the rate of change. So if the force is increasing, damping adds a negative term and vice versa. This becomes unstable when there are rapid changes, like hitting the armco. I tracked the ffb values briefly and found that they shoot through the roof (five-figure torque values) when hitting an armco if damping is used. My ffb patch removes other kind of damping, which amplifies the effect. So to be safe, start with quite small values and increase gradually. The damping effects are nice, but they are likely to be oscillations of the damping equations. The damping correction overshoots, and then overshoots back in the other direction etc..
