Well, I think Paul Skingley answered to that question already once in a thread about the 67-patch informing that this feature is no longer available. I may be totally wrong, however.

I have not used the GPL soundplayer for ages. Isn't this tool simply for comparing sounds?

I notice I am getting old.

Maybe you're getting old, but you're right. Lee's GPL Soundplayer is mainly for comparing the sounds. But you can create
your own Soundsets and load them via GPL Soundplayer into GPL. (For example: GPLEA Soundset, Ducwolf Sounds, Speed Eraser Sound) and so swap easily and wiithout renaming any files between them.

GEM+ was (or is?) able to give every car in every carset its own sound, I'm not sure whether this feature is gone to hell with the 67patch, will
have a look this evening and report here ... :idunno:

GEM has an "Apply Soundpatch" option, but never has, afaik, had any means of manipulating individual sound files.

In recent versions of GEM (Since 66 mod approx) the "Apply Soundpatch" has been very puzzling. Long story short, you do not seem able to run GPL through GEM without the additional sounds required by the sound patch, whether you have the apply patch box ticked or not.

Hi Ken,

in the car-section (... when editing the GEM+ carset) you can point to a file in your sound-folder, the car-slot will then use the sound with this name for the car. Without this fearture you wouldn't be able to handle different sounds for different mods. So I used this feature for example for my 68 carset, I could use a new, individual sound for every 68-car in this carset and not the default 69-sounds (my 68cst ist a copy of the 69cst with 69physics and changed graphics & sound ...).

That's what I meant with individual sounds...

I send a screenshot when I'm back home from the office ...

Cheers

Ah, I see. Yes, I have a 68 exe setup in GEM too. I didn't make it though, I downloaded it from RSC!!

I was incorrectly thinking ezechiel was asking about changing sounds like the soundplayer does. eg to change from say a Ducwolf fer.wav to a Jeroen fer.wav.

I just went from Vista 32 to Win7 64.  GPL worked fine but GEM had a "fatal error".  So I renamed my old GEM install, dl'ed the new one and installed it.  Had to reactivate the mods and move some special addons from the old GEM to the new GEM, and that was it.  It's running sweeet. :)

Sweet has turned a bit sour.  It seems I am missing 3 of the pics for the 67s in GEM.  The pics are there in the proper folder but do not show up.   :(   I copied the pics from my old GEM into the new GEM but nothing changed.  For that matter, I used to have videos of some of the tracks and cars.  The videos folder is now empty in both GEMS.  Are those videos still available?

I'm not sure if they are floating around somewhere but if you have trouble finding them let me know and I can PM them to you or even post them here if other people want them and it is OK with Bill and Keith.

mmmmm there was a link that keith posted with codecs that sorted it for me. I will have a search around here and point you to it when I find it. I have xp but it might help you too.

Here it is  https://srmz.racesimcentral.net/inde...indpost&p=42250

I used the K Lite mega pack and it sorted it for me

Thanks.    That pack did the trick for me too.  I'm surprised that it is needed for these .avi's.  BTW that site is toxic.  It's a good thing that I had just installed everything because I ended up uninstalling Firefox in order to get rid of all the trash that got added to it.

You only need DivX for the GEM videos, but now you have installed the pack you should never find you can't watch any video clip, no matter how it was made!!

We did a new installer for Paul Thurston's GEM+ 2.5.32 as well as iGOR 1.6 by Phil Flack and Lee's Setup Manager 1.1.6 as well as Winvroc

The new installer will help to fill in some values needed by all 4 of them like the GPL path.
You have also the chance to download the actual SGEM.INI during installation.
The iGOR.INI racelist server entry will be corrected.

A big thanks to Paul, Phil and Lee and of course Lawrence L. Holbert!
And a big thanks to Ginetto, Tommie, Remy, Arturo, Rob and all the other guys who have helped with this installer.

You don't need to download the package if you have latest GEM, iGOR and Lee's Setup Manager but it's a step forward.

Don't forget that you need to create a player first when you install a new GPL.

Thanks to all  :)

Ups. Link ?!
