This is a great idea. B) It is unbelievably noticeable how much the right setup transforms the cars in P&G, more so than any other sim ive ever raced with.
A bad one can make the car undriveable, another can make the car feel really wooden whereas a good one makes that particular car come alive.

I know we all cannot expect you guys to create setups for all and to suit every car and track combo but a set of base 'how it should-be setups' that bring alive each individual cars traits would be very very useful.
As an example, i thought the Cortinas in P&G 1 handled spot on, with their oversteery nature, one wheel lifting in the corners, exactly how ive seen Jim Clark drove one, but with the stock setups in P&G2, i found the car handled very woollenly and a bit stale which spoiled the characteristics of the car and removed the enjoyment factor.
Some of the stock setups, whilst making the cars easier to drive have led to some new players to the mod complaining that certain cars feel dull and understeery, which as we all know they certainly are not ! So if you guys could release some 'proper' setups that would be great ! :)

I recently used one of Aristollis Ferrari 250-C setups and again, it totally transformed the cars handling, making it slightly oversteery and sprightly..just right :)

It would be brilliant if this became a set up repository, if there was somewhere you could go and find a set up for any of the cars. Base setups would do for me, I can manage to work out gearing and fuel and tyre loads (!)

The online setups folder would be great if they weren't all stuffed full of GTR2 setups. DucFreak has made some folders there split by classes, but I haven't been through my setups yet to sort them out.

Here is my 77 Mosport setup for the 427 Cobra.
It's maybe a dozen clicks away from the stock setup if I remember correctly, but fast and sweet to drive.
I'm a universal setup kind of guy, so I'll probably stick with this setup everywhere. Mosport just happens to be the first track that I raced the Cobra at...once I get a car working, I stop messing with it.

          No throttle mashing! ;)

            Jim (and all)

I agree 100% on universal setups. They work very well with these cars, with the only exception being the extreme example of ovals. From my general setup I may (or may not) tweek just a little for a specific track.

So, why don't we have a thread by car-type?

              Eliandi,

When reading your manual on the Porsche, I wished I had your set up so I could get a hands on feel for what you were describing.

Is there any chance you could release the set ups you speak of in your manuals so we could both read and try them? I hope so.

I've posted a few of my set-ups...a few notes

                  1. I've noted the track the setup comes from, but as others have mentioned the setups are pretty universal. Gear settings are something that typically needs changing, and tire choice to fit the weather. I do tend to use non-symetrical setups. On some tracks its just small differences in tire pressures. But on other tracks, like maybe lime Rock where you turn right six times and left only once, you might actually see spring/damper/camber differences left-to-right.

                  2. I am not a set-up perfectionist. I tend to work on a setup to make it fast but stable. I do not make hot-lap setups, I make setup that should be able to run ~45min without spinning.

                  3. Your milage may vary: Everyone has setup preferences. Some people prefer brake settings that allow them to floor the brake and not worry about it too much. I often feather the brake, varying the force in the main braking zone and often trail-braking deep into the corner. Same with the gas....I feather in the gas past apex, using it to balance the car at an appropriate yaw angle.

No-one has posted here for a while! Any chance of a 289 GT40 set up, preferably for Bridgehampton 67? Got a fun event there at the weekend, don't know the track or car very well so I am going to be a liability at the moment...

A couple of the previous posts refer to setups that have been uploaded, but I don't see any car setups in downloads. I this area still being upgraded/repopulated, or should I be looking somewhere else for setups?

                      Thanks for any advice

                        Hi Stano
Post #4 in this thread has a zipped setup and I know the thread called Goodwood timetrials contains some setups for Goodwood. Maybe it's a bit quiet here because we are waiting for Version 3 and people might be unsure if their current setups will work.

I am not an expert on setups but have collected a few so if you are after anything in particular, just shout out, if I can't help there are plenty of people around here who will.
