I have all mods (except 55 and new "Legends of GPL") in a single install but, in order to make the most of the wonderful 55 tracks, I have decided to do a separate install for the 55 mod.

You don`t need a separate installation for any GPL mod. GPL and GEM+ work fine with all mods. Even with beta mods. ;)
You just create a separate player for each mod in GPL. Then you can administrate your players and mods with GEM+.

You can of course do a separate installation for each GPL mod, but I don`t see the benefit of it. It just takes away disc space and makes things more complicated. Just my opinion. :)

The great 55 track updates are mod specific. That means when you drive the updated track with the 55 mod you see a 55 track program and 55 track graphics updates. When you drive the same track for example with the 65 cars you see the 60s graphics. Thx to Greg Liebzeit and team!
Ergo you don`t need a separate installation for the 55 track updates.

I am at my wits end:
I can't get past the steering calibration screen freezing on fresh (non GEM) boots.

Bob Simpson has been lending his time. I've raced solo on 67, 69, CanAm66 and 55. I've hit lobbies from Igor and my GEM is working. My GPL Inspect, however does issue red on bottom player recognition row. I'm trying to create profiles for each mod to keep my settings and best laps. But I keep hitting a wall at calibration. Ok doesn't register and I can't advance. Upon boot fresh from laptop boot, I ran '69s and other mods for the first time. But they all ran under my original 67 profile which I named my first name, last nameOG67. Tried changing the folder name, ini name, moving and bringing back, etc. Can't delete in game, freezes. All I want is fresh profiles for each mod.
I installed 1.08 but left 1.3 box checked. Any clarity is tremendously appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

if you use your original profile u should be able to make new profiles in game just name them something like name55 name65  and so on

then make sure you checked the link carset to player under the config tab in GEM

then make sure you have 55 carset 55 player name and cars55 in the cars graphics directory all set in GEM

rinse n repeat for all other mods

Thanks Brocky. It seemed all was well running the original profile which I believe I deleted. My fear is re-establishing an original profile. None of the exe's will let me through.
However, thanks for the advice. Sounds promising. I will give it a shot.

If you're having trouble creating players, perhaps just delete them in GPL if possible, then check in the Sierra\GPL\players\ folder to delete the sub folder there. Moving them around and renaming them will not work.

First, tell me, with gplinspect.exe, what exe have you selected? It should only be the GPL.EXE in your installation under the Sierra\GPL folder.  Please tell me what message you're getting (exactly) in the bottom row. I assume you mean "Player.ini check"

With GPL, all you need to worry about is creating player names (main menu > player info > new) then do the controller calibration. The player's best laps is registered in the player.ini which is automatically generated in GPL when the player is created. For example, my Setups are saved in the Sierra\GPL\players\Simpson67__Bob\setups folder.

About to give all of these suggestions a whirl.

Don't see an uninstall for GPL in the folder. Will try control panel. Also, I have all  of these executables that load to a vanilla install screen before flickering back to desktop:
gplcfd
gplcfg
gplcfl
gplcfv

Any idea what these are? Are they essential or can I save the 1.8 MB apiece.

GPL does not have an uninstaller; everything is stored in GPL folder and if you delete that, you will have it uninstalled.
Those exes you have are not necessary; the only one you need is GPL.EXE

What they suggest you is for you to delete ONLY the content of GPL\players\  folder in windows explorer.
Then enter GPL and create a brand new player, setting it up with your choices.

Reinstalled 1.08 (w/ 1.3 patch). Hit "retry" to overwrite read only aspects as prompted.Cleared ALL player folders including those moved to desktop. No avenue, raw boot nor GEM will allow me past screen calibration screen.
Super frustrated but appreciative of everyone's time.

Please describe exactly what you're doing at the Options > Controls menu? Are you getting into the Calibrate Joysticks window? Details please.

Thanks Bob. Just re-reinstalled from disk. Re-reinstalled 1.2.

Prior to installing other mods, I launch from GPL and from GPL67. Put in first name and last67. Proceed to calibration. Wheel, throttle, brake and clutch register. But "OK" button does not advance. Green flag isn't waving and doesn't work either. GPL inspect says:
"Unable to find player.ini for last player" although player folder has been created. Player ini fole itself is named "player".

2 cents -

Go back to the 1.08 installer, let it overwrite anything it wants, and then re-install GEM+/iGOR, letting it overwrite also.
(Delete or overwrite - doesn't matter).

Using GEM+, open GPL and if there is a player already there go with it.
If prompted create a new player.
When you get to controller menu, confirm controller assignments for steering wheel, throttle, and pedals.
Then go to the calibration routine and see what happens.

Also, many users have more than one GPL install so they are able to test and/or replace add-ons etc.
An easy way to do this is install the 2004 Demo.
If it works, that confirms issues are not GPL or computer related.

Does Win Game Controller dialogue recognize your wheel and pedals?

I'd recommend always using GEM to launch GPL. Otherwise at this point, if you're running the 67 cars, use GPL.EXE and not GPLC67.EXE.

In your Sierra\GPL\players\ folder, does your player name appear as you intended it? For me I use Bob Simpson67 and the folder shows as Simpson67__Bob. Often a player name can get corrupted for some reason - either the name itself or something in the player.ini. If anything seems wrong, delete any errant player name folders.

The controller axes are being seen, but the OK isn't active.  Until that OK is hit, the green button will not be active.

Rather than using the mouse to hit OK, try just hitting enter which works ordinarily.

If that fails, it sounds like the controls.cfg is acting as if it's read-only. You can go into Sierra\GPL\players\(your player name) and delete the controls.cfg. When you re open GPL, you go through the calibration process again.

Wow! Hotting enter got me in!
I was beginning to wonder if the graphics option I chose upon installation may be a factor. :/
Now I just have an old player.ini in a fresh GEM install. Is there a way to delete it? I don't have any "era" mods reinstalled yet.

I think that ini might be from a settings save. Just deleted it.
Thanks a bunch folks.
I'll be back if needed.

I haven't ever forgotten about this thread and I know that it needs updating for dead links, now-useless information and needed new problems.

Like everyone, I have a problem with time and the overwhelming array of issues that keep coming up.

If anyone has suggestions, I can edit the first posts, but I really don't want to add too much, possibly making it too exhaustingly detailed.

Having this problem when attempting to Install Gem+ to my GPL 2004 Demo directory in order to install the 1967 Patch and unlock the full game

"Please adjust your GPL Path. Setup could not find a GPL.exe in the selected Directory"

No idea what I'm doing wrong.

Go here and it will explain the procedure in detail   https://www.gplworld....tallation-guide
If you want to install the original 67 season you will need a copy of the GPL CD or an ISO but you can install any of the mods without the CD if you Have the 2020 demo installed and you can also install other tracks too.
