Posted fixes for the 1966 Mod

1)
2d Helmet fixes - Cooper and Ferrari 312
There were a couple of graphics errors in the 2D helmet options for the two Coopers and Ferraris. This fixes the problems.
File: 2D_helmet_fixes.zip

2)
Steering wheel correction for Brabhams
There was a very small glitch with the Brabham steering wheels that is fixed.
File: SteeringWheel_correction_for_66mod.zip

3)
Replacement Cooper logo
This Cooper logo made by Remy replaces the one in the mod by Ian Barrett.
Ian would prefer we did not use his logo as it does not match the other logos in the mod.
File: cooperlogoc66.zip

4)
Player drives works Lotus33/BRM
To use just check the cars\cars66\c13 folder and copy the files from the player_works folder to the c13 folder.
Many Thanks to JohnnyFiama to give permission to include his work.
File: player_Works.zip

5)
Lotus 25/33 wheels
(https://forum.racesim...mp;postcount=17)
File: c08 wheels.zip, c13 wheels.zip, c18 wheels.zip

6)
National Flags
(https://forum.racesim...mp;postcount=19)
File: national_flags.zip

7)
66 Mod Grand Prix Movie Submod
The new settings better replicate the performance of the movie drivers.
You should find that Sarti, Aron, Stoddard, and Barlini fight it out for the first positions while Turner, Randolph, and Gurney follow in a second pack. The rest of the field is behind.

Thanks to Bill and Keith driving this site.
My deepest apologies for those who enjoy the 66Mod and wait for a new version which will include this fixes and some unreleased ones but without any physics changes.  Unfortunatly the Mod group had the beta forum at RSC and we have the same problems that our files/links has been removed and to be honest, I know that bad stuff can happen but it would be great if RSC would provide more information what's the problem or the future now.
Will the links be restored. I'm speaking about the GPL stuff at RSC. I had no answer. Can we add files now or is it more or less wasted time because RSC is fighting more problems at the moment ?

The 1966Mod team should try to create a new forum outside of RSC to spead up work on the remaining fixes. My time is limited and I don't have 10 minutes to wait for a thread to open and when I click submit waiting another 10 minutes. It's my opinion that we should at the moment move the development to the Mirror Zone because it looks like RSC needs some time for us GPL lovers to give us the speed we loved in the past (sometimes :D ).

This is a long, off topic read but I feel that the RSC problems affect GPL more then let's say rFactor. I'm not gone but very limited with time at the moment. So for me working on the 1.1 version of the 66 mod needs a reliable base which is the MirrorZone and the Repository.

Thanks Bernd for the updates!
On the RSC side of things I tend to agree that some more info would be nice about the status of the forum.
I have offered to help them out in anyway I can but I get the feeling that it is not welcomed due to reason that I do not know of, the offer still stands tho.
RSC Is a great source of info for gpl since that is the sim that started RSC. But RSC has moved on from GPL and it no longer is that important to them.
There reason for the forums is not entirely for fun anymore either, reading between the lines of there latest donation drive speaks otherwise. And the problems that continue over there have to wear folks out at times.

The mirror zone has and always be about GPL and always will be so rest assured we are not changing that philosophy. We will also not grow to a point where it becomes a job, that tends to take the fun out of things.

We are laid back and do this because we want to, we enjoy the friends we make and enjoy helping others out when they have problems or need something, its just a good feeling that we enjoy
We enjoy the folks that come over and post and wish more would do so.

The Repository has hosted several mod teams and welcomes anyone who needs a place to do there mods so if someone is in need we will set you up.
I hope RSC gets it all worked out and can get back on track.....
Talk about off topic :)
Im sure Keith will be moving this lol

Oi, this is  :ot:

:P

@Bernd,

If you can get all to agree we, as Bill said, would be more than glad to host it here or at the Repository. I haven't followed any discussions at RSC as I'm not allowed in anymore since the crash and don't know what is happening at the 66 or 67F2 forums.

The problem is that there seems some serious problems for others too. I will post a request at the Repository and we'll see that we can get them together as soon as possible ;)

Thanks to you !

Thanks for these update files, BN.  :)

And special thanks to Bill & Keith and all other GPLMZ mods for hosting these files and all else connected with GPL.  I think I stated in a post several months back that the MZ's importance to the GPL community seems to grow in stature day by day.  Now with RSC seemingly in limbo...are they going the way of M4D?; remember that site, gys?; it was swell til..., the MZ's stock becomes more valuable by the minute.

When I get some cash to spare, I'll be very pleased to make a donation.

I think both the GPLMZ and RSC each have their worth to the community. Both sites' hosting of tracks, forums and files have been invaluable imho. We all know RSC has its hickups now and then - come to think of it, can't remember the MZ having any (yet), so it is very important to have another site where participants can gather.

As for the current situation, since RSC has been down for quite a while and doesn't seem like it's gathering much pace (or room for attachments) at the moment, I'd agree with Bernd that for group teams it would be a good idea to continue working here at the MZ for a while. Until RSC gets up to speed again, groupwise there probably wouldn't be much movement or improvement otherwise.

Regards, Rudy

Clarification:

In my post above, I used the word "limbo" inappropriately.  I did not mean to state let alone imply that RSC is inaccessable.

But they do have the probs at the moment, that's for sure.

From 'Yes, Prime Minister'

PPM Sir Humphrey Appleby:

'On the contrary, Prime Minister, a clarification is not meant to clear things up.  It's meant to put one in the clear'.

:)

I just looked, and I have a zip titled "McL 66 steeringwheel fix".  I don't see it in the list, so I'm wondering if it's there under a different name.

Hello Miklkit,

I made that file from the GPLEA Brabham wheel since people reported jagged edges around the steering wheel of the McLaren. That file fixes it. It should be OK to post it here, since I didn't get objections when I posted it at RSC.
