Hello, I am new to this board.  My first question is, I live in the USA and obtained the GPL via Sold Out software.  The CD has the gpl_uk1.2 patch.exe patch at $:\Patches.  Does this mean I have the UK version.  Since I live in the USA and speak English I assumed that maybe I should download the US version of the GPLPS GPL Installer program but then I see the gpl_uk1.2 patch.exe and think maybe I need to download the UK version of the GPLPS GPL Installer program.

Please help me to figure out which version I need to download and install.

Hi malcontent_discontent,

:welcome8: to SRMZ and the GPLPS forum.

Since you have the Sold Out version which is UK based you can be certain that the UK version will work fine. AFAIK the US version just might work as well. You can wait for Bernd to come by and confirm this or you can just use the UK version and be happy_and _contented.  :P

You can use both , they work the same, what differs between UK and US versions is the gpl.exe file which is changed via the patch so if you install the patch coming with the cd, you'll have the UK version;
if you install the GPLInstall US version, you'll have the US version, actually you can do your personal version just renaming the text lines contained in the GPL.EXE file with reshack utility... :P
Hope yo'll be a little happier :D
Ciao! :wave:

Hi,
Dangermouse and Ginetto are right. To make things worse you could even use the Italian one if you can read italian text.

The resulting GPL.exe differences between US and UK are there but I don't know exactly what is different in GPL. Maybe the default measurement unit ?

But again, if you have the US version downloaded you can use this version.

Thanks everybody for replying.  I have decided to download the USA version.  Sounds like it does not matter in actual racing but in the languages of the menus.  There is a lot of good tracks and cars here so I figured why not sign up and you get a dedicated GPL community as well.

Thanks again for clearing my question up.
