BTW, what track name are you planning to use for the night Kyalami? Valerio Nolano (Valex) used track name Kyanite for his version from Oct 2002 so I hope you´re using some other name.
I think I call it Kyalnite.

A Night Rank doesn't sound like such a bad idea, now that so many tracks are available! (A Monster would perhaps be a bit too much though ) But, I don't suppose we could get the GPLRank admins to install *another* rank.
That said, maybe we could do it *here*! Just a thread or maybe a little webpage where alternative ranks like this could be hosted. You'd have to start by choosing which tracks or cars you'd like to include..

(GPLRank: -32)
PS. And of course, thanks for this one too Tommi!

Basically, for the Night rank you take the times recorded at GPLRank on night tracks. Then you put these up on a little "Sub-Ranks" web page here, and make a little Rank out of it (i.e., you determine a benchmark for each tracky and you have a grand total of those). You simply type the laptimes in. Done - no more would be needed.
You could do it in a thread like this one, but the more elegant solution would be a separate "Sub-Rank" web page where you have a little 'database' drive the page, like on GPLRank.
So in all, you'd get a web page that would show you all the selected Night tracks (I wouldn't include *all* of them, just a selection) and their laptimes, and on top of the page the current Night Rank leaderboard.
..And of course, the colour scheme and page gfx would have to be *very dark*
Does this make sense, kinda?

How would the tracks be decided if there not all going to be listed?
I believe there is only 20 so far.

1) GPL driver numbers have been dwindling anyway and not an awful lot of them run Night tracks in the first place,
and 2) not all of them would be willing to install all of 'em I guess. Also, very long and complicated tracks would be out (The Ring, Machwerk, etc) since statistically fairly few people take the trouble to run a lot of laps there.
My guesstimate is that it would be a little sub-rank for enthousiasts only, so keeping things compact & simple would probably work best. Otherwise there would probably be only 1 or 2 contestants for a complete Rank.
Therefore, I'm thinking of just including a few standard GPL tracks like Monza/Zandy/Monaco/Watkins (on GPLRank, these tracks get run more often than others) with a few others added that work well at night, but wouldn't put too many people off. Wiesnite and Avus perhaps, with Sarthe at Night?
Probably would work best if limited t to just one car class/season at first, too (otherwise, you'd get 3 or 4 subranks for this one subrank..)

PS. First thing would be to make a simple little database-driven stats page though, to see if things work - if so, you could work from that and maybe also use it for other little Subrank-pages later on. That could prove rather popular, since its fun and provides room for a wide scope of interests (Nightrank, 66ChallengeRank, TCRank, etc)

Really cool to drive Avis at night.
I like the way the stars are twinkling in the sky on way back down the track!!!
