The improvement on the damage is mostly graphical, the original collision detection is fixed and the damage will be more visible, even small dents on the bumpers from close racing.
The biggest change (compared to V6) are the tires, the rear tires have lost some grip (still a bit more than the front, that's normal). In general you will lose tire grip sooner now, the car will slide more, but you will be able to catch it better too. Together with the differential change it will be less easy to just plant your right foot at corner exit, but the rear weight still makes sure it's not that hard.
