Hi Dangermouse,

I was muckin' about and put together this utility that can automate grabbing screen shots.

Attached File  gplscreenshots.jpg   34.01K   173 downloads

I can select a bunch of tracks, which carset I want, how many points around the track I want pictures from, and the cameras to use.  I stagger the starting grid evenly around the track and start a single race by replaying mouse clicks.  For each location, I cycle through the selected cameras and capture the screen image.  When all the images have been grabbed, I not-so-gracefully 'kill' the process and move on to the next track.

Although I can't select specific locations to get the best shots, increasing the number of shots taken increases the chances of getting good ones :)

If this will be of any use at all, please let me know and I'll upload it.

Have fun :)
Mike.

Will do :)

I'm at work at the moment :ahh: and we have a 'project celebration' tonight. :drunk:  :stretcher:
So I'll struggle through my hangover tomorrow morning and put it together.

Hi Dangermouse,

Give this a try :)   Note the bit in the readme about overwriting 67season.ini  :read:

I have tried to think of everything to put into the readme, but please let me know if there seems to be something missing.

Have fun,
Mike.

I did and it is cool!!. You do have to be careful that only 67season.ini tracks are selected   Yup I did it, but got it sorted NP.

It really does help and have more screenshots going in now. What prompted you to make this cool utility? Will this only accept those mods or can other ones be added?

Cool  - glad you got it going

I don't have the same 67season.ini prob - but will be 'cos of my setup.

In my gpl\seasons folder I have 4 ini files.

67master.ini - all of the gplrank tracks
    extras.ini - all other tracks
    latest.ini - 'cos extras.ini got full :clap2:
67season.ini - a copy of any of the others

All my utilities scan the ini files, and if the required track isn't in 67season.ini, the ini file containing the track is copied over 67season.ini.  This way, no matter what track is selected, when GPL is launched, 67season.ini should contain the track.

Why did I create it?  Well, this thread actually.  I was gonna take some screenshots and thought - I could automate that.  I already had most of the code (like screengrabs and mouseclicks) from other bits and peices, so it didn't take too long to put together.

The list of mods is hard-coded at the moment, but I think I can do something with config files so others could be added.  The items that are different for each mod are the exe name, driver.ini, player.ini, and list of car names.  Shouldn't be too hard to do :)

I'll see what I can come up with.

Here is a new version that will let you configure a new mod.

    Have fun
    Mike.

    Mike,

    I did and am.

Many thanks   I added the other mods no problem. Now I'm just going through the list and taking the screenshots. After that comes the job of making the single mixedshot but this whole process is now faster with your nifty program. Thanks!!

The reason I was having probs was because I have a 67NotActive.ini that contains over 400 tracks - took it out and no problem now. :D

As GPLRank is updated by Magnus' database, I PM'ed Brian Wong and he told me to email GPLRank. We asked them what they need but have so far heard nothing and as we are not linked yet, the logo on GPLTD is wrong.

    Hi,

    Any update on the negotiations?

    Cheers,  :)

None at all. I have PMed Brian Wong again as that was where I got the only response. We shall see what comes of it, but certainly don't hold your breath. :(

Well, it seems like you can uncross your fingers :D

What we are working on right now is getting the World records to appear!!

Bill and Bernd have been busy and have got voting now enabled and a new categoty for track type has been created for Night Tracks. Hopefully we'll be able to get the other project working soon - just look at the greyed out button ;)

    Awesome stuff  :clap2:

Setups will be very useful - I have a standard setup saved at Adelaide (first track in my list) that I copy to every new track then just tweak the gears.  Having proper setups per track would be far better

    Cheers
