This little tool allows you to set up the field of starters to your own liking.
An installation of (at least) .NET 3.5 on the machine it's used on is needed.
Usage:
Name convention: just write the first and last name of the driver without underscores.
1. Unpack the archive. Location doesn't matter, it just has to be on the same machine the GPL server runs on, since it directly manipulates what it finds in the memory and doesn't need any program paths. You can put shortcuts to GplGridding.exe and Grid.txt to your servers desktop.
2.: Open 'GplGridding.ini', and in the 'Common' section change 'Firstname Lastname' to your servers driver name. Only neccessary on first use
3.: In the Grid.txt file, replace the placeholders with the driver names in the desired order. Server driver name (Firstname Lastname) has to be changed to your server driver name and has to be put last in the order.
4.: Start the GplGridding.exe. It looks up for the 'Grid.txt' and waits. Minimize the window, fire up GPL, set training to a time that allows all drivers to join. Even if someone does a qualifying time, the tool will override it.
If it doesn't work, it's most likely the server driver name put in wrong, so check that.
Have fun
The known history:
This tool has originally been written by someone at Virtualracing.org, but I don't have any clue who it was. After GPL was let go by VR, one of the guys who was at Gentlemen's League as well as at EOLC got the sourcecode from the original author and rewrote it to suit post-W98 machines.
