UPDATE 9th April 2021
I have made a small further update which ADDS TO the first December 2020 update mentioned in the main body of this post..Its just some additional textures and 3do's, which adds the updated flags and Horizon from Dundrod 1955 to Dundrod ( 65 )
This small additional update is on my site, but also attached at the foot of this post.
Instructions in the Zip's Readme.
A late Christmas present for those who still drive these tracks occasionally.
I should first say that I had intended to just do a graphics update for both versions of Dundrod ; the original (1965) version and the later release of the 1950 version.
The December 2020 update for the original (1965) Dundrod, is now released.
It is just graphics. The track file and driving surfaces are unchanged. Accordingly you should be able to race on line with anyone regardless of whether they have this update installed or not.
Unfortunately, the build files for Dundrod 50 were incomplete, such that I will now have to partially reconstruct that track and issue a new track file. The new build will not be compatible with the old Dundrod50, so I will rebuild it virtually the same with the new graphics and re issue it as a completely separate track named Dundrod 55.
1955 was the year of the Mercedes 1, 2, 3 of Moss, Fangio and Von Tripps and the last year that Sports cars raced in the Dundrod TT, because of three fatalities in that race.
So what's in this graphics update for Dundrod?
Changed my color palette with less saturation, which I think looks more natural for Northern Ireland.
Eliminated all "blocky" corners.
Almost all new 16 bit textures.
Some TV camera changes.
Animations.
Cleaned up the Pit area considerably.
Hedgerow plants and grasses added.
Field grasses added.
Higher resolution and reworked horizon.
Northern Ireland Flag replaces Union Jack.
Revised vertex shading and a new racing groove.
and probably some other stuff I have already forgotten I did!
CARE! Because this update contains thousands of extra objects, it may not run well on slow systems. So please consider copying your Dundrod folder in C/ SIERRA/gpl/tracks, then renaming the copy to "DundrodOLD" before you copy in the new update, in case you want to revert.
To install, just open the zip, then Copy / Paste the Dundrod folder in that to your C/ SIERRA/gpl/tracks folder and allow all the files to overwrite the contents of your existing Dundrod folder.
