Hello to all.

Well, guys, I've been taking a long time on this one. But finally here is the update with the online skins for the 1968 LATE MOD.

https://68f1.gplworld.de/

In this update it comes with:

The files .dat (inside are placed the twenty skins of each car).
Different typographies for the numbers. Some are very similar to the real ones.
The .cam files that come with the 67x mod shots.
68-Late icons for iGOR.

INSTRUCTIONS
All you have to do is to extract the files from the compressed file in the Sierra/GPL location. You will need to replace the .dat and .cam files that you have in the "cars/1968-02 folder".
They will also add to the "mods folder" the icons that go to iGOR.

Acknowledgements

My total thanks to Marcos Mirande for helping me understand how to make skins. I also want to thank Chris for taking the time to make this 1968 mod.

I hope you like it and enjoy it. If there is any problem, do not hesitate to write it down, I will be attentive.
I'm very happy to share this content with you, as I was eager to contribute something to our simulator.

Long life to the GPL!

Hi Niki, how are you? Look, I've been testing the mod in the new gpl with all the updates in offline mode and I don't report any problems. You have followed the steps of the installation?, it could be that there has been some problem when placing some file in a wrong place.

After watching the server replay, I noticed even though the car is assigned a number, no number is displayed on the car.

Wonderful MOD! Thanks to everyone involved in this work.
I must say that, even having GPL since its launch, I gave up many times because of the huge difficulty in driving the default cars and I think many others did it too. Stock GPL is very hard and it makes give up due to this difficulty.
I understand that the "Alien Community", which already dominates the default cars, thinks de released MODs (like 65, 66 and this one) are disappointed, because it is easier, boring, has more grip, no great setup changes are needed, etc, but hard MODs discourage those who are coming and are still rookies. With  MOPDs like this one (especially this one, so similar to the original cockpit internal view), these rookies are encouraged to learn how to make improvements, try new setup configurations, without losing enthusiasm, and so more and more people can join the GPL community - which I think is everyone's intention here.
That's why GPL, despite its age, is still strong and appreciated. More and more people are coming to join this wonderful simulator, keeping it alive for so many years.
      IMHO...

An innocent question: has anyone tried to use the 69X setups in this MOD? Or even the 67 setups, adding the wings to it?

I have only recently been introduced to the '68 mod via GPLWeekly and as a 'gentleman driver' I do find it fun! However I am a little confused about the early and late carsets. My question is why does an early/late option exist? Is there some historical necessity for the two carsets? Is the late just an updated more detailed version of the cars? Are the physics different? Any detail to fill me in would be great.

      Thanks

All you have to do is read the information on the '68 mod website. There are full explanations of all aspects of the mod there. As you've installed the mod, you know where the website is:

      https://68f1.gplworld.de/

Just go there, click on the "About" tab and read. Especially the section that starts "It was not possible to do the mod as one carset......". I hope that helps.
