I thought some of you might find this interesting. I've been using an AMD Ryzen 5 2400G for playing GPL. It's not bad. We're getting close to being able to use an integrated gpu for any GPL load.
I've run two online races now at 60fps at 3840 X 2160 resolution using the igpu. It's decent but AMD's igpu is still a little too weak for flawless performance at high resolution and 60fps. It's almost excellent for 36fps. At Sebring 67 in the Honda, I started in a crowd and the computer ran a steady 60fps. I used no anti-aliasing (it's not needed at 4k resolution), I turned off a few things in the mirrors such as clouds and crowds, and I only used the distance meter in Pribluda. As the race progressed, I turned on all of Pribluda. That would give me a slight stutter every 2 or 3 laps. At Riverside 66 60fps in the Ferrari, I used the same settings as Sebring 67 except I left all of Pribluda displayed throughout the event. I'd guess I got a stutter every 1-2 laps. I did see one very bad glitch shortly after the start. At one point several frames were totally black.
The 2400G is a 3.6 GHz (3.9 GHz turbo) 4 core 8 thread cpu with a 1250 Mhz integrated gpu. In the UEFI (BIOS), I've set the cpu to run a 3.8 GHz undervolted and the igpu at 1510 Mhz with a slight increase in voltage on the igpu. The cpu runs a little faster on average at full load with a little lower power consumption than default. At idle on the desktop, I'm seeing a 2 watt increase at the wall. I like the efficiency of this setup. The entire computer, router, steering wheel, and 43" 4k TV draw about 90 watts at the wall while idle on the desktop. It uses a little more than 110 watts total while running GPL at 60fps.
From what I've read and seen tested. I'd guess the integrated Vega 11 gpu is similar to a Nvidia GT 1030. I'm hoping the next apu (4400G) might have an igpu as good as a GTX 1050ti. The cpu cores should be noticeably better. I hope the gpu is too. The *400Gs have the best igpu at the moment. I doubt the 2200G/3200Gs igpu could handle GPL at 60fps. The cpu would work decent with a decent dedicated gpu. I wouldn't be surprised if the 3000G, a 2 core 4 thread cpu, with a dedicated gpu would run GPL well at 60fps.
This is some decent low cost equipment for running GPL. Radeon gpus aren't good for GPL in Linux but if you're willing to run win10 they work.
