Hello all!

As I originally posted in the main thread of the mod I (with help of Pablo Sosa) finished the online skins for the Early carset.  These files, with the agreement of Chris, of course, includes several additions and changes relative to the original 1968 mod, that doesn't affect the physics or laptimes:

(1) numbered online skins for every car and graphical option of the Carset
(2) unique combination of helmet+face for every car-number. They were taken from the ones published with the mod.
(3) the sound of the Cosworth engine was replaced for one by Sam Dobie (available somewhere at srmz)
(4) the default setup of all cars were modified to suit better their drive with wheel+pedals.
(5) the camera files of the original 1967x carsets was implemented.
(6) modified some mips to make the mod work with v1 rasterisers (useful to host it with old computers).

This post includes two links:

Download THIS if you haven't the mod installed in your computer or aren't sure:

Download THIS if you already have the original F1-1968 installed:

---------------------------------------------------------
Install for windows versions newer than XP
---------------------------------------------------------

- Regardless the file you've downloaded, extract it with .7zip software into the folder you have the gpl.exe (usually sierra/gpl).
- When asked if you want to combine folders, say yes. *** Never replace complete folders ***
- Add the carset at GEM

---------------------------------------------------------
Install for windows XP
---------------------------------------------------------

- Extract the .7zip to a temporary folder.  It may be the desktop or any other folder.
- Copy every folder to your GPL except when that already exists and is different than "cars/1968-1".
If the repeated folder is "cars/1968-1", just copy and replace it completely.
If it is other folder, as "tracks", "layout", "setups" or "cars", DON'T replace complete folders. Instead, open them and copy their files. If asked for replace them, accept it.
- Add the carset at GEM.

Common steps for both cases:  ENJOY A LOT

This is just an update of the great F1-1968 made and published by Chris (pioujd428), with individual physics recreating the performances of that year and a mixture of winged and not-winged cars.

Thanks to Chris and all involved in the mod!

Also thanks to Stefan Roess, that did a great portal for this mod:  https://68f1.gplworld.de/index.htm and Jani Posta, that already gives support for it at GPL-Weekly https://www.freeleo.hu/weekly/index.php and Custom-Rank https://www.freeleo.h...ex.php?p:crank/

I have updated the 1968 F1 Mod website with the 1968 Early Carset Online Edition. :)

https://68f1.gplworld.de/

Note:
I have renamed and repacked the "GPL68-OE.7z" (of dropbox) to "GPL 1968 F1 Mod Early Carset Online Edition.7z" (on the https://68f1.gplworld.de/ website) and I have added a readme (basically the text of Marcos of post #1). The file size is now smaller as I have used a higher compression rate for my 7zip file. Besides adding a readme and giving the 7zip file a different name nothing has been changed by me.

Marcos , please ,I would like to change the sound of the cars.
here on my phone, the sound of the BRM v12 and cosworth is the same, and another problem for me is that the volume is different from the others, when I'm in a starting grid I only hear the sound of V12 BRM, I wanted to replace but the name sequence does not say whether it is a Ford or honda like this on mod67.

can you tell me in the sequence of the sound which number corresponds which engine?

Hello all!

Looking at the server of Axel Cookie with this carset, I discovered that with the 60fps patch, only the first graphical option is loaded, that in the case of the early 68's never have wings...

I've no idea why this happens and also no idea how to fix it.  If somebody has any clue, will be welcomed... especially because the late carset is in progress...

Cheers, Marcos.

i dont know much about online racind ,but possibly if the server run the event in 60fpsv1 would be the solution , it work offline, to run wingless 68 car would be anticlimatic to say the least

Great! Maybe is just matter of hosting that patch instead of the v2  :)

From past experience with other mods (and also a brief test a moment ago), it seems that 60fpsv2newmod does not allow the selection of alternate graphics for the cars. The more common 60fpsaiv1 definitely does allow different graphics to be selected. If, for some reason, we have to race with the 60fpsv2newmod patch, it would be interesting to know if the non-wing car graphics are still affected by adjustments to a wing which isn't visually present. :idunno:

"if the non-wing car graphics are still affected by adjustments to a wing which isn't visually present."

Yes they are. Winged cars (Lotus, Brabham BT26, McLaren M7 and Ferrari) are still winged even if we cannot see the wings :)
