Here is a new version of the Pitstop patch that provides tire wear, fueling, and tire changes for all mods and cars.

Enjoy!

Lee

----------

77C Pitstop v2.0 Patch--this patch provides tire wear while driving and pitstops for refueling and tire changes.  It works for all cars and mods.

    1)  Pitstop Feature

When you approach the pit stall, the pitboard displays "Pit Here".  As usual, the pitboard turns off when the player car is in the pit stall.

Press the "P" key (petrol) to begin refueling.  The player car is fueled to the Setup Menu Fuel Load amount.  The fueling rate is random, but the miniumum fueling time is 10 seconds.  While fueling, the pitboard will flash and display "Fueling".  When fueling is complete, the pitboard disappears.

Press the "T" key to change all four tires.  The tire change time is 30 seconds.  While changing tires, the pitboard will flash and display "Tire Change".  When the tire changes are complete, the pitboard disappears.

If you want both fuel and tire changes, you may press the "T" key even while fueling is in progress.

During fueling or tire changes, the player car throttle is disabled to prevent leaving the pit stall.

The AI car fuel capacity is limited to the same as the player's car.  This may cause the AI to pit more often for fuel during a race.

    2)  Tire Wear Feature

Wear on each tire is computed separately and is based on how much the tire slides in both the longitudinal and lateral directions.  The more the tire slides, the more it wears.  Also, heavier cars have more tire wear than lighter cars.

All cars are given the same initial tire wear capacity; however, it is proportional to the race length.  For example, a Novice length race has 8% of the Grand Prix length race wear capacity.  This is done to require pit stops on shorter races.

Normal tire grip is used until the wear is 90% of capacity.  At that point, grip is reduced to 90% of normal.  When wear reaches 100% of capacity, grip is further reduced to 80% of normal and the tire continuously smokes.

F1 and F2 cars of the 1950s and 1960s normally did not stop for fuel or to change tires during a race.  Sports cars stopped for fuel and tires during long endurance races; therefore, tire wear capacity is calibrated for the 1967 Sports Car Extra mod.  For example, the heavy Ford GT40 MkIV will have to pit for tires two or three times more often than the lighter Porsche 910.  The Pitstop patch may be used to fuel all mods; however, tire wear will be much less with the F1 and F2 cars and tire changes may not be necessary.

Optional Patches--these patches are helpful for testing tire wear for all mods or as an indicator of how much wear remains on the 1967 Sports Car Extra Mod cars.  The left front tire typically wears the most so these patches display its wear.

    1.  77J LF Tire Wear On F10 View Tach Patch--this patch displays accumulated tire wear on the F10 view tachometer.  The patch is useful for testing how much wear occurs when the car is driven a given number of laps or distance.  The patch is not compatible with the Tachometer patch.

    2.  77J SCX Tire Wear On Cockpit View Water Or Oil Temp Patch--this patch displays tire wear remaining on a cockpit gauge for the 1967 Sports Car Extra Mod.  The Porsche uses the oil temperature gauge while the rest of the cars use the water temperature gauge.  It also requires a new 91 SCX Tire Wear Gauges.xml that has the appropriate gauge recalibrated to a range of 0 to 1.  The gauge reads full when the tire is new and decreases to zero when the tire is worn out.

Patch Installation:

    1.  Copy the 77C Pit Stop and 78X KeyPress .xml files to your mod installation/mods/GEM+/mod physics directory.  Delete the existing mod .exe, start GEM+, and let it rebuild the mod .exe.

If you want, you may place these files in the mod physics' "Options" directory, select the two patches with GEM+'s checkboxes, and let GEM+ rebuild the mod .exe.  This allows you to turn tire wear and pitstops on and off with the GEM+ checkboxes.

This new KeyPress .xml file replaces the older KeyPress file that was released with the new Night patch.  It still provides light control using the "L" key.

    2.  To test tire wear, copy the optional 77J LF Tire Wear On F10 View Tach .xml file to your mod physics directory as above.

    3.  To see how much tire wear remains on the 1967 Sports Car Extended mod cars, copy the optional 77Jf LF Tire Wear On Cockpit View Water Or Oil Temp and 91 SCX Tire Wear Gauges .xml files to your mod physics directory as above.  Remove or delete your existing 91.xml file, but be sure to make a backup copy before deleting.

A very, very cool new Patch.  I like the change to the 'P' key for petrol fueling.  Now, it doesn't conflict with the 'F' for the fps readout.

Thank you!  :)

Thanks Lee, you and Olaf amaze me with your talents
one thing though, in a race, should more than one car pit at the same time, how do you know which pit to stop at?

Roo, it's easy.  There will be a pitboard that says "Pit Here".  Drive slowly to it until it disappears.  Then you're in your pit stall.
