Evening all.

This idea came about with last years championship race and is very much inspired by that race concept but not to be confused with the "masters & monsters" concept Rookie is working on these days. Also a great idea we hope see become reality.

Me and Andrè have been going a bit back and forth with the concept and here is where it stands as of right now.

In the same vein as Lange Ring Nacht we wanna do it all in one evening. The date is looking to be December 12th which is a saturday. It would start 5 PM local time (CET) and be done approx 12 PM. These are moveable times (1hour + or -).

The race concept would be 3 races of 1 hour each. With 1 hour qualifying sessions. Total of 6 hours plus a little time wasted here and there.

We will setup a prequal server on VROC locked to a single chassi and the 18 fastest drivers at deadline (early december ish) are qualified for the event. Track and chassi yet to be decided , its gonna be a medium long track most likely. Open for all running 24/7. Listed at our league site.

We will run 1 "regular" race in 60 fps. 1 race with Lee`s weather patch (the one with moving fog) and 1 race with Olaf`s dirtgear patch ver 8. (proposal , not nailed down)

See update in next post below.

Each qualified driver will have 12 chassi points available for the 3 races. The chassis are ranked : LOT = 7p , EAG = 6p, FER = 5p, REP = 4p, COP  = 3, HON = 2p and BRM = 1p.

The three chassis chosen must not exceed 12p in total for the 3 races , beyond that its up to the drivers how this is done.

One short track , one medium and one long.

Not sure how we score the event but Im sure we can come up with something before december.

The whole debacle will be livestreamed on youtube.

So , sound like fun?

UPDATE : Based on a fairly luke warm reception we will try the following to get  this off the ground.

All 3 races will be run in normal gpl style , no weather patch and no dirtgear patch. 60fps. We will however run Mosrain as the first track to mix it up a little with some weather. Dundrod65 will be the long track and the medium will be announced later in the year.

The pre qualifying track willl be Sachsenring. Its long , technical and in general a nightmare but that gives ample time to improve and will also reward the best drivers. It will not be part of the main event and only serve as pre qual  track. Deadline is Dec. 5th 12 PM. The 18 fastest drivers are qualified for the world series.

Its very much meant to be an "elite" event with the best and fastest gpl drivers from all over the world. I think this can be quite the spectacle if we can get it going.

Pre qual server will be up shortly on VROC. Times registered can be found at https://f1historicesp....com/index.html

Glad to hear it Robert , just as long as youre not too disappointed if you dont qualify , there is always next year... ;)

No but seriously , we have designed and programmed a Renault Clio just for you , everybody else gets a Lotus.

The pre qual server will be up tomorrow. We will score the event starting with 20p for the win down to 1p for 18th place. No extra points of any kind , 80% race completion to score points. The races will be run in pro mode , no SHIFT+R.

Gonna throw out a reminder of this event. Open qualifying , 18 spots on the grid. It would be great to see a world final with the best gpl drivers on the grid in december.

Final is held 12th of Dec (saturday) and we start around 1800 CET , maybe an hour later. 3 races in 60 fps with 1 hour qualifying before each race.

Pre qual server is running at VROC.

Since only four drivers showed interest in an event like this its obviously not gonna happen this year.

I am however convinced that this would be a really good concept event for those who would like to test themselves against the very best in the world of gpl so Im gonna swing back to it next year and we will (most likely) set up a new pre qual next year on a new track and try again.

18 best would be qualified for what is scheduled as a 6 hour event in one evening. Regular 60 fps server , 3x 1 hour q and 1 hour race , total six hours approx. So lets see a year from now..

Of course, as a driver I have nothing to do with a world championship - unless it is a snail world championship.

But my opinion about the concept is: The hour of qualification between the races stretches the programme unnecessarily.
I would have thought that between the races there should be only twenty minutes of Warm-up, Qualy only before the first race.
For the second and third race I would recommend  to use for the starting grid the result of the race before.
To make sure that the WarmUps do not count as Qualy, the Ringnacht tool can be used.
I would also shorten the qualification before the first race to 30min (server start maybe with 40min, but only after 30min start of qualification, so that the admins don't have a disadvantage).
Then the whole event would no longer be 6 hours long, but
30min Quali + 2 * 20 min WarmUp + 3 h race = 4h 10min.

And as a second thing: To avoid that too much people drive Brabham to often I would recommend to say (additional to the chassis score system): For all three races drivers have to be used different cars.

As I said above I have nothing to do with a world race series. It's only a try to make the event more interesting for somebody.

And thank you for that Olaf , appreciate the input. :)

There are some regs stipulated in the first post of this thread that addresses what you bring up here.

We would have a chassi point system in place where no driver can exceed 12 chassi points over 3 races. BRM cost 1 point , Lotus cost  7 points. This would ensure three different chassis for each race , allthough a driver could also go for 3x brabham if that is more viable. It would give each driver some wiggle room to stitch together their own strategy for the event.

The reason for 1 full hour of Q is to make it less intense , it gives drivers ( and potential viewers online) some time to rest between races and stretch their legs a little. Most would only need half an hour to set a time in Q , some even less. But its there to give some breathing room and also time for admins to post some results and such between races.
