Dear All

I'm very pleased to announce the release of the Autódromo Oscar Cabalén (1998 version), Alta Gracia, Córdoba, Argentina, originally done by Juha Hallikainen and finished by myself with the aid of several REAL and GPL drivers

Especially I want to thank Oreste Berta (h), which is the son of the great "Mago de Alta Gracia", Oreste Berta Sr. He's something like "our Colin Chapman" here in Argentina and made real history in the Argentinian motor racing but projected also internationally (https://es.wikipedia...ki/Oreste_Berta)
Oreste (h), through our GPL-er friend Daniel Demarchi, gave us valious advice to complete the track, which was a honour, especially for me (Marcos), the Argentinian of the team.

Thanks a lot to many devoted track makers, as Ginetto and Pablo Fernandez, which gave me a lot of help during the learning of GPL-track building

I hope to see many of you racing online at this track!! :)

Cheers, Marcos Mirande

Autódromo Oscar Cabalén (1998- )
===============================
REAL TRACK
Track Location : Alta Gracia, Cordoba, Argentina
Track Type : Racetrack
Track Lenght : 4.045 kms. - 2.513 miles.
Track Num. Turns : 13
Track Year : 1998
History of the GPL-Version of the A. Oscar Cabalén
--------------------------------------------------
This track was done in a 90% by Juha Hallikainen. It had only some clipping, some issues with the layout here and there and had much flatter corners than actually are, especially T1, T2, and the exit of "La Chicana". With the help of professional racers and/or team managers (Berta, Humbert and Brusaferri) we could fix those issues before releasing the track. THANKS!
History of Autódromo Oscar Cabalén
----------------------------------
The Autódromo Oscar Cabalén was inaugurated in 1968 in Alta Gracia, near Cordoba City, Córdoba, Argentina. This is, indeed, a famous venue in Argentina, hosting many local categories.
It had several layouts, being the original, from 1968, a high speed "perimetral" one, which is not in use anymore because it was considered too dangerous for real racing... but actually not that dangerous for GPL-racing (so... who knows... maybe we could do it in some future).
The version of the track herein recreated was inaugurated in 1998 for the Turismo Carretera (TC), the main tourism category in Argentina.

Thank you, Marcos & Team, for this new track! :newtrk:

I will add it to the GPL Track Database the next days.

Could you please change the readme text of your post in a normal text?
The way it is now you have to scroll sideways, which makes it difficult to read.

Thanks you Marcos!!
I'm going to study the possibility of including it in the next oAo season.
Will it be possible to make the original perimeter circuit, where did the F2 run in 1968 and 1971?

It would be great. I just finished what Juha started and actually had almost ready to be published. But I already started the 1968 version.

And will be great if included in oAo season!

Your best laptimes are recorded in ini files. F2 records are stored in gpl/players/<yourname>/placf2.ini file.

Every mod has its own .ini file saving your best laptimes for it. That of the original GPL cars is the player.ini, while the one for the F2 mod is placf2.ini

Cheers, Marcos.

Com o numero de pistas argentinas atualmente em GPL seria muito interessante um campeonato temático MAF1.

Okay, I will be honest here.
I have driven a 30 min. qualifying session and this track feels very unpolished to me.

- Some corners seem to have not that many polygons, Turn 1 for instance.
- The way I've driven some of the kerbs are not like how it visually appears (e.g. a tiny kerb feels like a really big one),
- The AI drive some weird lines, e.g. in Turn 2 it looks like the go with two wheels off and nothing happens to them. If I do the same the grass actually pulls me off the circuit.
- On a few occasions the track elevations and the way the car moves are not aligned. The biggest culprit is in the picture below at Turn 8, where the car goes UNDERNEATH the track surface!

This track does not give the impression of a well tested track release but more of a beta track (is it a FINAL or a BETA? the description hints me to the former)
and falls behind the standard I have come to expect from new tracks today. It feels more like a track from the early days with gorgeous textures.

Crazy track this one. One part full of quick corners, a bit oval-ish, the other part is a karting circuit! But pretty enjoyable, nontheless.
Nice one, Marcos :)

Hi Yannick thanks for the feedback... Elevations issue solved.

I'll try to improve the AI
