Car wise I'm still holding out on the pre war mod(s)

The track was resurfaced in 1968, and widened to make better racing. And I guess the circuit got a lot faster with that, too.
Yeah the tarmac was so abrasive Jack Brabham managed to wear out his tyres over the race distance. Plenty of vapor locked engines too, high altitude of the track would contribute to that as well as the high temperatures.

Seconded, I always wanted to see what they could do around Tandil.

Wouldn't an abrasive asphalt have more grip than a smooth one?

Yes, but it's also tearing chunks out of the tread. Especially if you slide the car a lot, like you want to do with those cars. Here is the report. It was Surtees btw not Brabham I've mixed them up apparently.https://www.motorsportmagazine.com/archive/article/february-1967/14/grand-prix-south-africa

Sadly most of the quickest drivers, for example, abandoned the scene and I'd like all of them lapping me online.
Cheers, Marcos

Go to GPL repository and ask admin to let you in "independant automobiles" modding group
We have 50% of USAC 1967 already done
Project started in early 00s but it was abandoned after few years.
Than I discovered it in 2009 and took the helm. Got some momentum going and we made few cars more. Than project died again.
That we got it going again in 2013 and it died again in 2014
However the project yilded some magnificent tracks when Mr. Ginetto joined us such as Phoenix and Langhorne
And I still have Milwaukee in advanced beta state on my HD
So anybody who is willing to help is welcomed.
Join us and maybe we will have USAC 1967 in the forseeable future

My biggest wish is to have 1970 Can-Am cars. I wanna be able to drive the Chapparal 2J and just rip around the track in a giant vacuum cleaner.

Try with creating updates to the existing tracks. Since you mentioned Can-am maybe graphical updates for Laguna Seca would be good starting point.

Just looked at the tutorial and I needed the trk23dow.exe. I can't find that anywhere in that list. Does someone have a link to it? Just found out that trk23doz is the standard and I literally can't find a link for it, in fact, looking at the wiki a lot of tools are completely gone. Or they're outdated therefore not used. Is there not a single archive of everything that's needed to build a track?
