Since a 1937gp mod for GPL did not materialize in 2018, I went back to the original version created for rfactor1 until I found out this has been converted for Automobilista. The difference between these versions is night and day. Well worth the price of purchase of the game just for this one mod.
Check out this video on youtube.

It seems good... but I really don't think 1937 GP cars drove as rally cars on ice...

I love this mod, especially the Auto Union is crazy to drive with. I did had to set the clutch to auto though, otherwise I could not keep the engine running.

Don't laugh, I use a flight yoke (albeit a very high quality one) as steering wheel. In AMS I can set the rotation of the wheel and I usually set it at 540 or 720 degrees. This makes a world of a difference in driving the twistier courses. I also use auto clutch but manual shift.

Well, admin moved this thread over here. My overt attempts to lobby for a GPL version of 1930's GP mod not working too well : )

In my opinion, this behavior is acceptable to Auto Union. It's a matter of weight distribution, as it's the only car with rear engine, it has an oversteer behavior (visible in the various movies that exist on Youtube). The other cars have, I believe, understeer behavior, unless we provoke them ... What do you think, Marcos?

Anyway, I look forward to this MOD, although it is strange to drive a car that has a huge steering wheel in the real world, with a G27 ...

Hello Ernesto!  It seems, from the following posted videos that the rally-like driving was just some "style" of the first driver rather than some problem with the physics.

I like Automobilista (and appreciate it's Brazilian :) ) very much but I'm pretty sure the GPL version will be even better ;)

Cheers, Marcos.

I think like this too. By the videos, it is easy to see that the style of driving these old cars is different from the 67: more braking with the gearbox (brakes at that time were horrible ...) and tires much worse.

I would very much like to have Automobiliista, but I need a more powerful computer and at the moment, my financial time is short, KKKK ...

So, I have Mod 37 for rFactor and GTR2 and they are very unstable cars, nasty ... But sensational!

Ernesto,
The version in Automobilista is so much better due to improved physics (Niels Heusinkveld helped out in this department). The cars are more driveable but still very challenging.

We just hope it will become a reality this year. As good as the AMS version is, nothing beats the vast library of scenries available for GPL.

I forgot I had bought AMS. I saw it on my list of games in Steam. I hadn't played is since 2015. I seem to remember it was all stock cars then.

Anyway, I installed it and to my surprise, it has 67 F1 cars. All with funny names. I believe the Lotus is called Norfolk. It wasn't easy to drive. Much closer to GPL then all the other modern sims.

I'll have to try the 37's.

Pete,
Try it you'll like it.
Now that you mentioned the 67mod I'll go take a look.

I like it. Drove the Lotus and Brabham on a gpl converted Spa (no stupid chicanes). Somewhat easier than GPL but still challenging.
There is also a mod called F1Legend Racing which is similar, also fun.

Driving the AMS 1937 mod has improved my skills handling GPL cars, both the original 67, 67 historic and the 55 mods. Techniques I used in the former can be applied to the latter. Whether it is good physics or not, I don't know.

I'm ready to delete this game. How do you get rid of the jaggy's?
