Yes, noticed that also.

Not sure though any system more complex would change the results substantially?

Drive more if you want to get better?
Makes sense to me.

Of course Robert is and stays the leader!

But easy to compute it by adding a column: -> points divided by starts

Just compare place 5 with the following 3 driver... :yikesss:

Think driver #47 would move up, so I'm for it.

This ranking is missing a weighted score!  Points/races!

Now you are "better" the more races you drive...
In case of Points/races I see a problem. Maybe someone thinks after a few perfect races in one league: I would be dump when I drive too much races (in other leagues) because I would decrease my score.
That would be last I wish. I see the advantage of this ranking in the fact that the drivers will be motivated to drive in more than one league.

You are right, Cookie with your first sentence, but I think principially such an all league ranking can't be work so good as an (one) league ranking.

But maybe it would be better if for each driver counts only maximimum the three best races per month, and in July/August the best three ones per both month?

I share Olaf's vision and not at all that of the system mentioned above (Points/races). I explained it in detail in my previous post.

I will paraphrase Olaf (sorry) but I was probably writing at about the same time as him. :rrunner:

Calculating an average would give this kind of thing :

- Roy van Drunen* would be 1st with only 12 races run since the beginning of the year, in a single championship, where he is globally dominated by Robert (win 6vs3) ( https://oao-gpl.speed...2/D1results.htm ).

- Tames Oud* would be very close to Robert, in 13 races only, with only wins or 2nd places in D2 at OAO. I don't see how that would show that his season is great compared to all the other drivers in the different leagues.

If the stakhanovists who are Joao, Enrique and Eduardo (more than 90 races each) are well ranked, it is, partly, because they drive like crazy, respect to them, they have gone to get all their results and have not stolen them from anyone. :andale: :yipee2:

I repeat myself but my wish is not to overvalue the good results of drivers who do "few" races but to give a realistic picture of what is the season.

Moreover, as Olaf or Iestyn ( https://srmz.racesimcentral.net/inde...=20#entry139254 ) have well understood, the idea is to spur, if possible, racers in driving in more leagues or more championships and not to drive less, especially now that the leagues are fewer and fewer and GPL is probably closer to the end than the beginning. That would be counterproductive.

Subject closed for me, see you next month and, most of all, have fun.

:hat-tip:

*My apologies to Roy and Tames, whom I don't know but who have all my respect, I just cited them to illustrate my example.

I love online racing, so I can't think of anybody not racing in a race because of a "ranking list"

Yes maybe it would be possible, but the list would show a more realistic ranking...

I do race with some of the guys in this list and know that some would drive circles around others in front!

Thanks ROOKIE! :)

I think it's normal when you race more, you score more points. Also every league has it's difficulty rating. It's quite a neat formula and system IMO. Surely many down the list might be better/faster drivers, but this way you have to earn the points. South and Central America's have a very passionate and active GPL community, and in my opinion they have earned their way into top spots in the ranking.

This is more an indication of the most active/succesful GPL online racers. An option also would be resetting the standings at the start of each year!?

PS: you didn't add my 5 wins from last month ROOKIE, in the last column, right? :P

Not my list, so cannot guess the effort to make it.

GPLRank and Custom Rank tell us who are the faster drivers.

The GPL World Ranking tells us who is winning the rewards of enthusiasm for Grand Prix Legends.

Perhaps with some effort, using data from replay analyzer, a weighted formula could be created and applied to race results?

Who is number one at max lateral load?
Who hits top end over everyone else?
Who advances from grid position the most during races?
Who is fastest in BRM?
Who leads everyone in disconnects during a race?

Lots of stats and ways to consider them.

Plus, luck has a lot to do with finish position and points earned.

Who is the luckiest?

Everyone who makes a grid.

And does everyone necessarily gun for a victory or high placing by taking the best ride?  Some would just rather compete and get the most out of the least.

You are right Doni, I know some of each fraction... ;)

I prefer the GeLi system were the "self handicaping" works fine and drivers are good leveled by car choice.
This did not work with other leagues...

Good stuff and good job.

Concerning the league list:

HIES drives 60 min races now. Dirtgearpatch v. 8

Detail about the driver list. Michael Lowery (nr 75) is American , not British.

Again , good job with this.

Yes Robert, finally he drowned you by the number of races. :rrunner:

Having said that, you are clearly the two most impressive drivers this year. Him for the number of races he's raced and what he's done with it. You for the results, too.

For him the GPL World Ranking, for you the Masters. A great story, a great ending.

In 2020 I'll publish the ranking every quarter because every month it takes too much time.

I think I'll propose you, as soon as possible, a bonus article (after this final 2019 ranking) with additional rankings and unpublished statistics throughout the year.

Good job Rookie.

HIES is now running only 60 min races for the whole season and we run dirtgear patch version 8.

Its been a bit back and forth for us to find our format but in 2020 its 18 races x 60 min without exceptions.
