Thank you , turns out Im already subscribed but I didnt get any notice in my feed for some reason.

Looks good , great stream quality. Now all you need is to get the pribluda thing to work on top. Thumbs up.

Thx for the compliments. :)

It would be great, if Pribluda would be possible with a stream of a Server Replay. Olaf, any chance? Or is it technically not possible?

I can tell your right away its not possible , its been a frequently asked question so the stream has to be live or else no pribluda.

What you can check out is larger font on the replays if you use the format you have now.

Well, then I won't have Pribluda as I can not live stream on my server.

Thx for the larger font tip!
I will have a look where/how I can change it.

Hallo Stefan!

Quote

When I was just testing your latest patch v9b on my race PC using a server replay I have also got the ??? at the display in the top black bar again.

I get it with these patches activated:

  • replaydirector
  • 77Dv3 No Letterbox_replay

and Lee`s

  • 77Dv4 No Letterbox
Ah, do not choice both letterbox patches at the same time. It should be the reason for the ??? and maybe other problems.

Is there no chance to make Pribluda work with saved server replays?

If you have the source code of Brrrs latest pribluda version for me maybe I would have a chance...otherwise not.

I don`t have the source code of Brr`s Pribluda version, I guess no one has. Does anyone know how to contact him?

Here is our 2nd stream. :)

Olaf, do you know why Replaydirector only shows TV1 after the start and never switches to another camera?
The stream is using the default replaydirector XLM file. I haven`t edited it according to your forspecialists readme.

Hi Stefan,

I have had a look at the stream. It doesn't work like it should. It's not only the non switching to other camera type.
The reason is: The live data and replay data are more different than I thought...or better it's so as I thought before I tried the last changing. It's not really possible to bring the livestream version to work with saved replay. It would cost to much time.

But now I have had another idea. I take as basis the older _tv1_on_tv2 version and deactivated the patch for the first 20s of the race. So you have flickering at the start anymore. But you have set the focus manually to a driver when they are Standing in the start row. And think about it: When you double click button << the _savedReplay (this is the new version) the patch is deactivated. Then you have to double click >> to reactivate it.

The new version livestream_savedReplays is uploaded.

I would say this version is 80% so good like the livestream version, but it should be much better than the last try.

BR Olaf

P.S.: Maybe sometimes I would add a minimal time from 5 seconds or so before the next changing to a new driver to avoid suddenly cuts. But it needs time...to integrate it.

Excellent job Olaf.

Olaf thank you very much!
Your new replaydirector_savedReplays file is great! A big improvement. The start looks very good now.

I hope I do not get on your nerves, but I have one more thing. :D
When a crash is happening the camera switches very quickly from one to another car. Is it poosible to adjust the minimum time before switching to another car?

And at the end of the race, it would be interesting to see everyone cross the finish line before focusing back on the action.

I have done this now (for livestream and savedReplays version). The minimum switching time is about 5s for 60fps and 8s for 36fps.
Long time I was struuggling against this feature, because maybe in the minimum time things happens which the stream missed then. But otherwise often the feature has a positive effects I think. So I have done it now...

Quote

And at the end of the race, it would be interesting to see everyone cross the finish line before focusing back on the action.

Which is one of the into livestream included features which are not avaible with saved replays.

In generally these things are better in case of work with livestreams:
- In the last lap the focus is completely set to the leader - except  a group is fighting very hard or is overtaking. When the winner has finished his last lap the focus switches to the second, then to the third...and so on. So you see all non overlapped drivers in the last lap.
- In the first and last lap camera type is completely tv1 or tv2 if you want.
- It's possible to choice other laps for comletely tv1 or tv2 camera.
- For the drivers in the first places is the possibility increased that they get the focus: It's like in real racing. When at the same time are two equal hard fighting groups in the race (let's say 2th/3th and 12th/13th) the human director will set the focus more often to the 2th/3th.

Unfortunately this Features are only avaible for live data - not for saved replays.

I hope I do not get on your nerves,

Until now not, but I hope nobody comes with Brrs source code...at the moment I'm in summer break. :zzzzz:

I'm late to this party, but just downloaded & watched a replay of a full grid '68 event from tonight.

Just as in TV coverage, I found myself following a particular snippet of coverage past the initial move,  for it to cut to somethnig more exciting - which I would not have seen otherwise (as per the intention!)

I'd say you made replays great again!

Great work!

YouTube Race Stream
30.06.2020 / GPLRACER 65 / Race 12 / Hilltop Trophy Race (hilltop)
https://www.youtube....h?v=H8xBNqr34T4

-> results now at the end of the movie! ** NEW **
-> using new GPL Replaydirector patch by Olaf Lehmann (replaydirector_v9c / replaydirector_savedReplays)
-> streamed/captured with OBS Studio
-> MKV Video cutting with Avidemux, editing with CyberLink PowerDirector

Thanks a million, Olaf!
replaydirector_v9c / replaydirector_savedReplays is the best version!

Tip: Untick replaydirector_savedReplays in GEM+ while racing online or you will get CTDs (at least I did).

Streaming to YouTube from OBS Studio did not work this time (I guess I did something wrong) but I also saved/captured it to my hard drive, which was good as I was then able to edit the video with intro and race results at the end.
And this is actually faster than streaming directly to YouTube as the processing time takes hours and when I edit the movie in YouTube Studio it will take again some hours until it is finally online available.
So, streaming/capturing only to hard drive and then editing the MKV file manually (cutting, adding intro, adding GEM+ program and track map, adding race results at the end of the movie) and uploading it to YouTube (I have a very fast upload) is overall quicker done than streaming directly to YouTube.
Overall it now takes me about 1h 30 min. to get a 45 min. race published on YouTube like the linked Hilltop race above.

Yes, very good tip.
All replay director versions can produce that problems when the client is entering the track. I know it. So don't forget to untick the patch if you will drive itself.

By the way…at first Stefan had the idea to make the livestreams without an extra client (from the server itself). I think it should work, but - if anyone would do this - have in mind it's untested. Have in mind in case replaydirector produces an CTD the race for all participants is finished.
The save way is: Use an extra client for the livestream job. This procedere is tested in many races without problems.

Hello Olaf,

thank you for your feedback. Your latest version works great.

Now I create our GPLRACER race videos like this:
- I capture with OBS Studio (freeware) using GPL replaydirector_savedReplays (activated in GEM+). OBS Studio saves as an MKV video file to my hard drive.
- Then I cut the MKV file with Avidemux (freeware).
- Then I use CyberLink PowerDirector (payware) to edit and create the video. I add a headline and the GEM+ track picture at the beginning and the training and race results of GPL Replay Analyser at the end of the video. Then I let PowerDirector save the finished video as MKV file to my hard drive.
- Upload to YouTube. Finished. :)

Maybe this helps that other leagues also show their races. ;)

I have a question regarding my latest video:

RACE VIDEO
25.08.2020 / GPLRACER 65 / Race 13 / Rouen-les-Essarts 1967 (rouen)

https://youtu.be/HwPccPQiJ7s

This time replaydirector_savedReplays has picked most of the time the onboard camera. I am still using the default settings of replaydirector_savedReplays.
Do you know the reason? Is it because Rouen has many long straights?
It is no criticism as I like the many onboard sections in the video, I just wanted to understand more how Replaydirector works.

Hello Stefan,

very thanks for your description. To these livestream things I cannot say anything...
Your streams looks very smooth, less juddery than the HIES streams it seems.

It is no criticism as I like the many onboard sections in the video, I just wanted to understand more how Replaydirector works.

The Rouen race wasn't so close together like the gplracer race I seen before. That's the reason for lesser tv view.

At the start normally you set to tv view. Then the camera type stays at tv view until the moment when the smallest distance between two drivers is 32 metres or more. Then it switches to onboard view.
The camera type switches back to tv view when a driver overtakes another driver or drives beside them (when the smallest distance is smaller than about 3 metres). It's nearly the moment when the second driver is in death angle.
When the distance is 32m or more again it switches back to onboard view.
It seems at the Rouen race most time the distance was more than 32m.

In the livestream version in same laps this technology is inoperative. In some laps all the time rd sets camera type to tv under all circumstnces. But ss I wrote  some times before livestream version doesn't work with saved replays.

But I found a way to increase the 32m. Now (in rd v9d) the switch distance is 48m or so. It should produce tv view for longer times...

HIES livestreams whilst gplracer uses the replays and that explains the difference in image quality. Livestreams are more jittery , maybe due to some online lag , idk.

Still waiting for a bigger font on the replay menu Stefan , been watching your races but its hard to see who Im looking at or where they are in the race. But the quality is top notch.

As I said before I don't know anything about streaming procedere/streaming tools.
But from time to time I think about the flickering of the HIES streams. It seems to be periodic.

I assume the streaming tool produces pics after a determinated distance of time. I.e. 30 pics per second. Then - when gpl runs with 60fps - every second frame will be recorded. So the stream should be smooth if there would be no other problem.
When the streaming tool lets say 25 fps records in my understanding the tool should record most time the second frame but in periodic time distance only every third frame. This would explain the periodic flickering in HIES streams.

So my question to Dag/Andre': How is the framerate on HIES?
And the question to Stefan: How many pics have your stream? Maybe 18 or 36?

Yes, my GPLRACER videos are less jittery because I do no live stream, but capture of a server replay.

I have experimented with a bigger font in GPL replays, but it never looked the way that I wanted.
And as my GPL does not have anymore chat text lags online I like keep my settings without any further experiments that might make it bad again.
I think the videos are ok to read with the current font and 1920x1080 resolution. A little bit bigger would be nice, but I think it is just about ok now.
Or does anyone have a tip on how to get ONLY the replay font bigger and all other fonts stay the same?

- OBS Studio is set to capture with 60 FPS in 1920x1080 of my GPL server replay which is in 36 FPS.
- after cutting the MKV video with Avidemux the new cutted MKV file is still in 60 FPS.
- after edting the MKV file with CyberLink PowerDirector the final MKV file is saved in 29.97 FPS, which I upload to YouTube.

Olaf, I hope that helps?

If anyone needs more detailed informations on my settings for the programs I use because he wants to do the same thing, just ask me and I can share my settings.

It's the contrary evidence for my theory it seems. When my theory would be correct you should have more jerking.
