Two items not included with the ORIGINAL 1955 Mod download, are available here as optional updates :
1/ A full colour front page, for those who prefer a colourful start.
2/ A repaint of the Gonzales Ferrari, with colours discovered to be more realistic than originally offered. It's a lighter, brighter car, to better befit what little evidence we have.

The Mod team decided to give Gonzales the colour's of Argentina, though he also raced in traditional Ferrari red during 1955. He did not race in a strange blue/black car. Old colour photos sometimes age badly. A indication of a problem is often the sky colour.
Mod team artists have learnt to avoid photos with bad colour's where possible. We've very few of Gonzales in blue. Black and white can show us which cars are lighter, and which cars are darker when seen together. There are also restored museum cars. While it's possible these do not have their original colours, most are similar to the one I've posted here. None are as dark as in the released 55 Mod.
It takes good detective work, to restore the closest thing possible to reality, to the cars we provide to GPL fans.

The Ferrari 625 in the 1955 Argentine GP as driven by Gonzalez is the same dark blue/yellow as .... from the 1954 Argentine GP race which was the older 500 / 625 F1. Notice the position of the exhaust pipes.
".... though he also raced in traditional Ferrari red during 1955" - Gonzalez ONLY drove in one championship race in 1955, the Argentine GP, in the dark blue/yellow Ferrari 625.

Clearly, the mod team is just drawn to the dark side.
Actually Javier's drawing is what put me over when we were working on the mod. Thanks Greg.

Guys, the 1955 black & white I posted clearly shows the Ferrari lightness, compared to a Lancia, and a Mercedes. And Museum cars show that lighter blue was usual for Argentina. The dark blue the GPL artist has used, is not unattractive, and a huge improvement on the blue/black beta it replaced, but it's a 1954. The 1955 car is lighter.

Most of our drivers simply want to jump in the cars and go race. But here you see i little picture, of how we make things as real as possible. Improvements are not always easily won, and there are few of us to make them.
I have made some new evidence that shows Gonzales racing the dark blue Ferrari, as suggested. Look carefully at the car, and you will see where the darkness meets reality.

Thanks for your help Luigi. Black and white cannot give us the colour, but it does help to decide the hue, when different 'colour's' are shown together. Your model in the photo makes good detective work.
