I was wondering if there might be any fast laps available for download anywhere? And a setup wouldn't go amiss! ;-D
As I encounter each new track with the 1955 cars it is very difficult to work out where I'm getting it wrong, before being pitched into the next race.
Currently beating my head against Zandvoort in the W196. :-(
Apart from being lost in "gearbox hell" with no hope of escape there is the burning question of brakes and where to use this precious resource, apart from Tarzan!

I have about 20 setups from testing and was going to stick them on here but thought I should check them first. Have some replays and I can put one up for Zandy w196 as well.

Great stuff. Thanks Iestyn.
Can't wait to get that lap in the Analyser.

Interesting!
It's the second half of the lap where you get away from me. I'm in front until the entry onto the back straight and then there is no holding you!
Not had the chance to try your setup yet.

After some pretty heavy braking at Tarzan, I dab the brakes for Gerlach, just enough to get the car drifting. At Hugenholtz I brake but only briefly, letting the car slide a lot to scrub off speed (have to carry this right in towards the apex). The next time I brake is Scheivlak, just a little again to get the car sliding. At Hondenvlak I sometimes dab the brakes, sometimes just lift suddenly to unstick the car, but I'm still not sure which way is faster, and anyway I expect the really fast guys are flat here. At Panorama I brake gently but for longer than just a dab, to make sure I can tuck the nose right in to the kerb before getting back onto the throttle. Pulleveld gets a tiny dab (suspect I could avoid this with a bit more effort) and for Bos Uit again just gentle braking but quite late as I have a tendency to turn in too early and get stuck down on the inside unable to get onto the gas as early as I would like.
I'm barely an average driver Clive but I hope this helps.

Thanks Jonny,
Sounds like a lot of brakes but I need to have a circuit map in front of me to know what you are saying. With the W196, I managed to find a braking "allowance" after Tarzan that didn't give more fade than was allowed to slow down again on the next lap without too much drama and this also put me into the mid-field battle so I was happy. ;-)
Aintree next and that is going to be a struggle.

Clive, it may sound like I am using a lot of brakes, but for me a 'dab' is using about 20% of total braking force for about 1 second. So not much really. Even for Tarzan I don't ever get fully onto the brakes like I would with any other Mod.

Thanks Jonny and also Greg for the maps.
My braking is similar, except that I don't brake for Hugenholtz, I just change into 1st and turn in.
As you say, the brakes are only used lightly when they are used at all. At Aintree I can do Waterway and Canal on engine braking. In the last turm, Tats, I'm currently coming down to 1st and then going back up to 2nd for the corner. That is to say. I do when I remember what the hell I'm trying to do!
EDIT: Scrap that approach to Tats. I'm quicker if I just come down to second.
